ing of Institutes, the Conference
chosen for this fall was 'Cultural Act-
ivities in Home and Community."

Hayes will have charge of this work

at Ripley on nober 15th, when In-
stitute members from that district
will convene there. On Tuesday, Oct-
ober itith the institutes from this dis-
trict, Belmore, Teeswater, Holyrood,
Whitechurch, Luck/low. Kair-shea
and Paramount will convene at Holy-
rood from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This
course aims to promote and stimulate
interest among Institute members, in
music, art, literature, drama, nature,
radio, films and related fields and so
contribute to the development of a
better informed and happier and
more progressive citizenry. There will
be something to benefit every Insti-
tute and every member. Lunch will
b., served, provided by those attend-
ing, and the hostess Institute supply-
ing other dishes. All are cordially in-
vited to attend.

Wingham. who underwent a serious
operation recently in St. Joseph's
T-ispital, Guelph. was able to go from

first time Mr, MacKenzie has been
home since he left over thirty-five
years ago,

Mr. Harold Johnston of Parkhill
visited on Sunday at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Wallace Conn, Mrs. Will
came home by Michigan, and through
the :Mackinaw Straits ,and visited
with many friends in Manitoba,
Sask. and Alberta, where they ran
into a real otd-time blizzard that
Made them think of striking home.
Bad weather and rain or snow fol-
lowed them all the way, even when
they got back into Ontario.

Mr. and Mrs. Lance Grain, and other

Mr. Arthur Wright of London spent
last week with Mr. and Mrs. R. H.
Thompson and other Martin relatives
in E. Wawanosh. Mr, and Mrs,
Thompson visited on Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs, Percy Vincent of
Walkerburn, and attended Anniver-
sary services at Auburn United
Church, where Rev. Hugh Wilson, a
former Pastor, was guest speaker for
the day.
Mrs. Harvey Reid of Goderich
spent a few days last week at the
home of her brother, Mr. Bert Currie,
and Mrs. Reid. Mr. and Mrs. Currie
and family visited with Elora friends
on Sunday,

and two daughters of Tillsonburg,
spent the week-end with Mr, and
Mrs. Mason Robinson and other Rob-
inson relatives in E, Wawanosh.
Mr. and Mrs. John McAllister and
sons, Neil and Dale, amid Mr, and Mrs.
Chas. Rollings and four children, all
of Centralia, spent Sunday with Mr,
and Mrs. Kenneth Mason.

Miss Rena Moore, who went
through an operation in Wingham
Hospital last week for .appendicitis,
was able to return home on Saturday'.

with a Thanksgiving message, He
was assisted in the service of song,
by Mrs. Ezra Scholtz, Mrs. Dan

Mrs. G, B, Farrier at the piano.

fred Farrier, of Toronto and Mr. and

of Long Branch, spent the week-end
