MERCURY PLANS
,What should have proved an easy
win over Wiarton in that town on
Thursday night turned out to be a
5-3 loss for the Crossett Mercurys.
The upset, coming after Wiartores
12-2 defeat here on 'Monday evening,
was accounted for in part by four
errors on the part of the Wingham
team and by a good inning as a result
for the Wiarton squad, when they
whipped in four of their five runs.
The Wingham markers were all scor-
ed on singles in the fourth, seventh
and ninth frames,
Sparrow was on the mound for the
IVierks, with a total of 10 strikeouts
to his credit. Simonski, who hurled
for the home team fluffed 12. Graves
received from Sparrow and Gilbert
for the Wiarton team, Wingham
