They Tell Me It's True

Landladies traditionally win argu-
ments, Tins one in Crow Lake, Ont-
tario, was no exception, A couple of
Americans say they were in the Crow
Lake Area on a Fishing trip , . when
they discovered their camp lacked
running water.
The Landlady presented the two
with a pail of water, they filled a
thermostat bottle, and went on about
their fishing.
Later they asked her where they
Could get some more.
Her answer was "Dip it out of the
Lake, like I did before,"

In British Columbia even the sharks
are sociable.
• A boatload of fishermen out after
salmon near Nanaimo, spotted the
shark following their boat. About 12
feet long, the shark was ruining their
salmon fishing.
It just wouldn't go away and ap-
parently liked the company. When it
came too close, one fisherman slashed
at it with a Gaff, Mr. Shark took the
hint and parted company.

"You'll never believe this one," a
man told Halifax Police officers. "I
perked my car and went to put a
coin in the meter, but this is what I
found;
There was a dog tied to the meter,
Each time I tried to get close the dog
snapped at me. Finally I gave up .
Figured the dog would chase the
Policeman away too.
"But while I was gone, the owner
came and took the dog away. The
Policeman came and I've got this
ticket."
He was so right, The police didn't
believe him and he had to pay the
traffic ticket. But he should have at
least got a refund for originality.

In Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Police-
men are complaining, It"s not so
strange to hear cops complain but
these ones say they don't have enough
to do.
Seems that the Dartmouth Police
has a Reserve Police Force and to
keep these men interested, the Police
Department puts them to work at all
part-time jobs, many, Policemen do
such as guard and patrol duty at
special events.
That's okay by the regular boys ex-

TOMATO SEASON:
Each year, many seasonal employees who prove
themselves are chosen to fill vacancies on regular

DODAY, our first duty' as Canadians is to back up our
country's efforts to meet all threats to our freedom.
To do this, we must be strong not only in arms but also
in our economy. And to keep our economy strong, we
must do everything possible to fight rising prices!
How can you help fight this inflation?
One important way: by saving money! Nowadays,
every dollar you spend for things you don't need helps
to boost prices. But the money you save—in bank de-
posits, savings bonds or life insurance —"votes" against.
the menace of inflation.
Remember too — savings help you. And your Life insur•
ance savings help protect your family.
So . to support Canada's defense efforts . . . to help
yourself . . save money every way you can nowl
