Mrs. Roy Rutherford is not as well
as her many friends would like to
see her. We join in wishing her a
quick return to health.
Mr. and Mrs, Rusell Grant and little
son, David, of Toronto, visited with
Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Abraham over
`the week-end.
W.14.S. Honours Members
Mrs, R, R. Hunter was hostess one
evening recently when members of
the Women's Missionary Society, Un-;
ited Church, held a social evening in
honour of two members who are lea-'
ving the community, Mrs. Vern Den-
ny and Mrs. U. E .Cronhielm. Music
and contests provided entertainment.
Mrs. Gilbert Howes and Mrs. Cron-
hielm were awarded prizes for first
place. Mrs. D. S. MacNaughton read
an address and Mrs. Hunter and Miss
K. Hazelwood presented gifts to both
ladies, for which they expressed ap-
preciation. Mr. and Mrs. Denny have
moved to Owen Sound and Rev. and
Mrs, Cronhielm"will take up residen-
ce in Oxford Centre at the end of the
conference year. Both ladies have
been valued members of the W.M.S.
and will be greatly missed, Refresh-
ments were served by Mrs. Hunter,
Mrs. Munro and Mrs. MacNaughton,
Tuesday afternoon. The president,
Mrs. Leslie Douglas, was in charge of
the devotions and opened the meeting
with the singing of the hymn "What
a Friend We have in Jesus", followed
by prayer and the reading of the
Scripture by Mrs. Wm. Hart, who
chose St. John chapter 10. The roll
call was answered by a verse of
herd". Members discussed some dec-
orating of the manse and Mrs. Alex.
Scripture containing the word "Shen-
Wright acted as organist, Mrs. W. T.
MacLean and Mrs. Wright arranged
the meeting and served the refresh-
ments.
Last year the Women's Association
bad as its project, that of moderniz-
ing the church kitchen. During the
past winter and spring this work has
been progressing and new cupboards
have been installed, a double sink,
also new tables covered with green
marboleum, chrome trim. The same
color scheme was carried out in the
wall and woodwork paint treatment.
Since this project has been complet-
ed, the members would like to show
their appreciation to anyone who in
any way helped to see this aim ach-
ieved. Donations were made towards
their bazaar and help given when
dinners were served.
To contact everyone individually is
impossible, and so the members of
the W. A, take this opportunity of

time and effort in order to make this

The pupils of Delmore School, took
part in a musical festival held in
Teeswater, this past week, and ac-
quainted themselves quite creditably,
although some of the pupils are sick
with measles at the present time.

Minstrel Show Enjoyed
People of this community were giv-
en a rare treat on Wednesday even-
ing in the town hail, when the Zur-
ich Lions Club presented their min-
strel show, sponsored by the Howick
Lions Club. There were forty mem-
bers in the cast. The singing and
jokes were most entertaining. Two
small girls and one boy all belong-
ing to, one family tap danced and
really brought down the house with
their performance. This group have
presented their sh'w several times
and are to be congratulated on the
quality of entertainment provided.
Howick Lions Annual Frolic
Friday, August 2nd is the date cho-
sen for the annual Howick Lions
Club Frolic which will this year be
held in Wroxetor park, They have
also arranged for a Hayloft Jamboree
to be held in Wroxeter town hall on
May list and June 1st, and in Octob-
er will sponsor a concert in Carrie
United Church given, by the famous
Schneiders Orpheus Choir from Kit-
chener. Howick Lions Club members
are to be congratulated in that they
not only carry out a humanitarian
program* for the children in this dis-
trict, but bring to the people, old• and
young, the kind of entertainment that
they enjoy most, This can only 'be
clone by careful planning and a lot of
hard work on the part of the Lions,
and they deserve the whole hearted
support of every citizen.
Miss Thelma Denny spent the week
end at the home of her brother, Cliff
and Mrs. Denny at Teeswater,
Miss Edythe Weir is spending a
few days in Toronto.
Members of Wroxeter Women's In-
stitute have received an invitation to
attend a special meeting of the Ford-
wich branch on the evening of June
13th. A special attraction will be an
address by Mrs. Arthur Hamilton,
Atwood, formerly Board member of
the F.B.W.I. and one of the delegates
who attended the Copenhagen Con-
ference last year. Members who
would like to attend are asked to get
in touch with secretary, Mrs. Harvey
Timm, by May 25th, in Order that an
estimate of the number going can be
given to the Fordwich ladies.
