Mrs, Bella Greaves has moved here
from Gorrie .and taken the apartment
of Mrs. Emma Williamson, Mr, and

presented their EaSter drama "Re-
lease" in Belgrave, Friday night,
The -united Church Q.G.I.T, held
their second annual mother and da4-
&liter banquet with Mrs. tephens,
Gorrie, guest speaker who told of the
origin and progress of the C.G.LT,
since the national advisory committee
was formed in 1934 A musical, pro-
gram was also given.

A pleasant time was spent in Mrs.
Carl Douglas' home last Saturday
evening, with Mrs. Douglas and Mrs.
Jack Fitch entertained in honor ef
Miss Betty Hunkin, whose marriage
is to take place shortly. About 25 of
Betty's friends were there and pre-
sented her with a kitchen shower.
Little Wayne Douglas and Diane
Fitch carried in the baskets with the
gifts, then they sang "Always" very
nicely, After unwrapping the parcels
Betty thanked the girls for the use-
ful gifts, then each guest provided a
household hint or recipe for the bride-
to-be. Some music was enjoyed and
at the close the hostesses served a
dainty lunch,
His many friends are sorry to learn
that Mr. George Keiffer is very ill at
his home near here.
Jimmie and Bobby Grant of near
Teeswater, are staying with their
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Dustow at present, Their mother, Mrs,
Gordon Grant is a patient in Wing-
ham Hospital, having undergone an
operation for appendicitis. We wish
her a speedy recovery and improved
health.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Zinn were at
Hanover on Monday afternoon attend-
ing the funeral of Mr. Zinn's uncle,
Mr. David Haefling.

onto, had charge of the Bervicg in the
Presbyterian church Sunday after-
noon.
The infant daughter of Mr, and
Mrs, Elmer Jeffray is still quite Iii
and has been taken to the Sick
Children's Hospital in London for
treatment.
Mumps still seem to be going
around. The latest victims of this
disagreeable disease are Audrey Scott,
Lavonne Ballagh and Jack Inglis, We
hope they will all feel better soon,
We wish to congratulate the Gorrie
hockey team on the good showing
they are putting up in the semi finals
They are playing a good, clean game
of hockey and are deserving of all
the success they have attained,
Mr. and Mrs. D. Warwick of Lon-
don, spent the week-end with Mr
and Mrs. Geo. Nferkley and family.

A shower was held for Mr. EuP,-ene
Kennedy and his bride-to-be, Miss
Betty Hunkin, on Friday evening,
April 6th„ at their future home on
the 12th con. of Cuiross. Relatives,
friends and neighbours gathered and
presented them with many useful and
beautiful gifts and a purse of money,
Dancing was enjoyed to music by
the Schill Bros.
Attendance at the euchre held in
the Community Hall last Monday
night was not large due to the bad
roads. Prizes were won by Mrs. Tom-
my Parker, Mrs. Jim Inglis, Boyd
Marshall and Nelson Hunkin. Mrs.
Ralph Weishar won the lucky chair
prize. Mr. and Mrs. Rowland Baliagh
are the convenors for the next get-
together.
A shower for Mr. and Mrs. Glenn
Will, newlyweds, was held in the Com-
munity Hall, on Thursday evening,
April 6th, Miss Dell Hayes read an
address and a purse of money was
presented to the happy couple by
Everett Cathers. The Blu-Tones
supplied the music.
Mrs. John Schruter and Orval call-
ed on Mr, and Mrs. Neil McNeil on
Sunday last.
25th Wedding Anniversary
About 30 guests gathered at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gowdy
on Tuesday evening, April 3rd., to
celebrate with them the 25th anniver-
sary of their marriage. Mrs. Gowdy
was the former Emmaline Earl of
Gorrie and their marriage was sol-
emnized by the Rev. Dr. Perrie, at
the Presbyterian manse, Wingham.
To commemorate the occasion a
mock wedding was carried out with
A. Halliday acting as the bride, G,
Finlay as the groom, L. Earl as the
bride's father, and Rev. J. H. Martin,
as the officiating clergyman. Contests
were enjoyed and all joined in a sing-
song. Speeches were made by Rev.
J. H. Martin, Mr. Robert Nay of
Fordwich, Mrs, John Gowdy and
Harry Gowdy. The bride and groom of
25 years were presented with many
useful gifts, one a full length mirror,
given by the brothers and sisters of
Mrs. Gowdy.
The dining room was tastefully
decorated with pink and white
streamers and pink and white car-
nations and a beautifully decorated
3 storey wedding cake graced the tea
table, at which Mrs. Jas. Doig pre-
sided. Serving were Mrs. Gordon Lout-
tit and Mrs. Harvey Copeland assisted
by Mrs. Fred Hyndman and Mrs. Roy
Gowdy.

passed away on Friday, April 6th, at

She had been in failing health for

of London, Clayton of Listowcl, Lorne
.Calross, Leslie of Howicit, Mrs.
Herb (Margaret) Busby, of Carrick
and Mrs, Herb (Lily) Miller of, Turn-
berry, and one brother, John Abram,

The funeral was held from the Ed-
gar funeral home, Gorrie. on Monday,
April 9th„ with a public servio.b in
the Beimore 'United Church, conduct-
ed by the Rev, J. H. Martin, The
pallbearers were six nephews, sons
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm, Abram,.
John, William, Wesley, Robert, Harry
and Steve Abram. Interment took
place in Wrexeter cemetery.
