Church, Ripley, last Saturday, Her
husband predeceased her, and she left
one daughter, Mrs, Bruce Vogan, well
known in this district, and two sons,
Mac and Allan to mourn hers
Mrs. Ezra Welwood has been visit-
ing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clif-
ford Hoffer of Turnherry, during the
patt week. Mrs. Helfer returned home
from Wingham Hospital with her
baby son last Tuesday.

splendid piano duets. The pupils of
S.S. NO, 10 also sang a chorus, accont-
mned by Miss Jean Gaunt. Lunch

her position in Victoria Hospital, Lon-

of carrying mail from the post office
to the train on Monday.

Marion, Wingham, visited on Sunday

London on Saturday and visited with

Mrs. Joe Thompson and her 'son,
Mr. Claire Thompson, Mrs. Thomp-
son of Tillsonburg, and her grand-
daughter, Audrey Phillion of Wood-
stock, spent the week-end with East
Wawanosh and Belgrave relatives and
visited with the former's father, Mr.
Thos. Robinson in Wingham Hospital.
Mrs, Thompson also reported the
birth of her new granddaughter, born
to Mr. anti Mrs. Harold Thompson in
Tillsonburg Hospital on Thursday last.
Mr. and Mrs, Albert Cameron, of
Lucknow, visited last Wednesday at
the home of Mr. anti Mrs. Mason Rob-
inson,

good crowd gathered at the Memorial

The community was again sadden-
ed by the death of another life-long
resident, in the person of Mr. Donald
McDonald, which occurred on Thurs-
day morning after a week's illness.
Mrs. Jack Berndt of Detroit, and
her son, Staff Sgt. Frank Berndt, re-
cently returned from active service in
Korea were week-end visitors with
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon MacPherson.
Mr. Bob Carbert of CKNX will be
the guest speaker at an open meeting
of the Women's Institute in the Com-
munity Hall this Thursday evening at
8.30 o'clock.

W. L Meeting
The regular monthly meeting of the
Women's Institute was held on Thurs-
day last in the Memorial Hall, with
the president, Mrs, Geo, McClenaghan
presiding. After the opening exercis-
es the ladies decided to send a dele-
gation to the Girl Guide Frigidaire de-
monstration in Lucknow on April 12,
and to have a style show of British-
Knit goods at the June meeting and
invite another Institute to be present.
Mrs, J. G. Gillespie and Mrs. Walter
James were appointed to canvass the
village for the Salvation Army funds,
and Mrs. Chas. Martin, Miss Margar-
et Taylor and Mrs. Jas. McInnis were
appointed a nominating committee for
the election of officers. The follow-
ing program was then presented; two
readings, "Still Going Strong" and
"Don't Quit", by Miss Shirley Chap-
man; a reading by Mrs. Walter Jam-
es, "Should People Pick Their Teeth",
Mrs, Ezra Scholtz gave the ten com-
mandments on visiting the sick, and
Mrs. Jas. Metnnis gave one of Nellie
MeClungis readings, "Higher lildttea-
tion." Mrs. 3, McLean sent a
thank-you note for the gift of the In-
stitute pin, presented to her before
she left the village, and the National
Atithein brought the Meeting to
