1 Wroxeter Group Win Second Prize
Howicle Lions Club held their third
Contest Concert in Fordwich on Fri-
Iday night, As in previous contests,
.1.4Ordwich, Gorrie and Wroxeter

IFordwich first, Wroxeter second, and
eGorrie, third, The Wroxeter artists

Girl," four-year-old Wayne Douglas

llenny and Gilberta Howes singing
a medley of Navy Songs, Rosemary
Adams, dance; piano solo, Berea Gal-
'halter; Carl Douglas "Ole Man River"
and the Wroxeter Lions Kitchen Band
with Ken Edgar conducting. Mrs.
Lyle Brothers was accompanist. Fav-
.orable comment is heard of all three
groups. The Howick Lions are to be
congratulated for their effort in pro-
moting home talent in the C0111Inunity.
Women's Institute
The March and final meeting for
the year of 'Women's Institute will
be held ou Wednesday the 7th., at
2.30 in the afternoon, The report of
the-nominating Committee will be giv-
en, and also reports of the standing
commit tees will - be presented. The
motto, "In service you find the great-
est joy," Roil call,• "The meeting I
have enjoyed most during the year,"
Miss Edythe Weir will give a demon-
stration on smocking. Mrs. jim Doig'
will have charge of current events.

Lions Club Charter Bus
I Members of the Hotvick lions Club
enjoyed a trip to T01'0111.0 on Satur-
day afternoon and took, in the hockey
match at . Maide Leal Gardens. The
bus left Wroxeter at three p.m. and
the clay was perfect for the trip, with
excellent roads all the way,
Mission Band
Airs, Lloyd ,Magee was speaker
when the Buds of Promise Mission
Band held their February meeting. on
Monday afternoon in the 'United
Church school room. The meeting
conducted by the president, Lattrine
Smith was opened with the singing
of the hymn "What a Friend We
Have in Jesus." The Mission Band
Purpose was repeated in unison. Ann
Douglas read the scripture lesson;
Marjorie Moffatt led in prayer. The
story from the study. book "A Trip
with Captain Lloyd" was told by
Mrs. Lloyd Magee. The meeting clos-
ed with the hymn "When He Cometh"
and the benediction. Mission Band
leaders for 1951 are ,Misses Thelma
Denny and Gilberta Howes.

Rev, J. R, Watt of Gorrie, was the
guest speaker in the :United Church
on Sunday morning, while Rev. U. E.
Ceonhiehn was in. charge of, the ser-
vice at Goerie. Spe.alcing from the
text, "Should Such a Mae as I Flee?"
Nehemiah, chapter 6, verse 11, Mr.
Watt pointed out, how each person
has - a responsibility as we go through
life, We influence sonic one, We draw
a pattern upon the wall. Wherever we
are we are surrounded by evil forces

The Women's Associatien of the
United Clwyd' held their February
meeting in the church parlours on
Tuesdey afternoon, PtieSident, Mrs.
Leslie Douglas, was in charge and
opened the ineeting with the hymn,
"Take Time to Be liely," Mrs. Wm,
Maxwell led in prayer and Mrs, Al-
bert Gallaher read the scripture les-
son, choosing Psalm 5. .1611 call was
answered by a verse containing the
word prayer. A letter WaS read from
a former member, Airs. George Mac-
Donald, now a patient in Beck Mem-
orial Sanitorium, London, expressing
her thanks for, a remembrance •front
the AssociatiOn. "MA, 'Al'eCtifelfecin -al-
so thanked the members for remem-
bering her during her recent, illness.
The afternoon was spent making
quilt blocks and scupper was served
by Mrs. Thomas McMichael and Mrs.
Percy Copeland. Two new members
were received - into membership, Mrs.
Andy Adams and Mrs. John Wylie.
