Mrs, E, W. Rice was hostess for
the February meeting of the Women's
Association on Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. Charles McDonald presided and
there were 18 ladies present. The
theme of the worship service was The
Pharisee and the Publican. Mrs, joit,
Cameron read the Scripture lesson
;.nd Mrs. Frank McQuillin, the lesson
thoughts. It was decided to hold the
March meeting on Wednesday, 21st.,
and an invitation from Miss W. D.
Rutherford was accepted, Mrs. Cl.
MacPherson and Mrs. F,
with the president, was appointed to
purchase material for the members to
make articles for a bazaar. The ladies
made quilt blocks and enjoyed a soc-
ial time. Lunch was served with 'Mr's,
J, Cameron,' Mrs. F. Mcjiullin, and
Mrs, W. A. Miller as hostesses.

their play, "A Pair of Country Kids"
in the community Hall on Friday
night, before a large- and appreciative
audience under the auspices of the
Women's Institute, Bruce's orchestra

lowed.

ors with Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Douglas
at Mitchell.
The March meeting of the Women's

The monthly meeting of the Wo- •
men's Guild St. JonTes Anglican
church was held in the church base-
ment, on Wednesday afterm,,m, Feb-
ruary 14th., with a good attendance.

$5,000 in year 1950. Losses wore high-
er than in 1949 and over half of the
losses inn 1950 were paid for live stock.
An interesting comparison was
brought to the attention of. the meet-
ing. The losses for the year 1880 or
seventy years ago, amounted to less
than $200.00, whereas in 1950 they
were over $55,000.

held on Monday evening at Lanes

Plans were made to redecorate the
basement of the church and the ladies
will gather to clean the basement in
preparation. The afternoon was spent
quilting. Refreshments were served at

Gorrie Township Hall, on Friday,
February 16th. President, Ewart •Mc-
Kercher,was in the. chair ,and briefly
reviewed the busineSs of the year
1950.
James McFadzen of Brussels was
appointed chairman for the meeting
and in accepting the chair paid tri-
bute to the founders of the company
for the wonderful heritage handed
clown, and hoped those who were
now entrusted with that heritage,
would have the same said of them by

the ,coming years. He complimented
the officials of the company for the
splendid report they were able to
present.

Hockey
Interest in hoekei was high last
week when the Gorrie team played
two "sudden death" games with Ay-
ton in the Mildmay arena. On Thurs-
day night the third gannie in the best
two out of three series with Ayton
was played in Mildmay, resulting in
a tie at five-all after overtime. Ciii
Saturday night another game had to
be played between these two evenly
matched teams, when Gorrie won With
a score of three to•Ayton's two. Scor-
ing goals were O'Krafka, Townsemi
and Harrison. Gorrie will now have
to play Moltke.
