Mr. and Mrs. James Darling, Jim-
mie and Charlie, were dinner guests
Of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Darling one
evening recently, the occasion being
a birthday celebration,
Miss Joyce Darling, of London,
spent the week-end with her parents, •
The cold weather No have been
having is rather hard on the cars.,
Sometimes they won't start and some-
times they slide off the icy roads. As
a result, a number of our citizens
have been doing quite a bit of walk-
ing some nights recently, leaving

a few friends last Saturday in honor
of Miss Lavonne's birthday.

On Wednesday night the Delmore
Canticles lost out to the Howick Lions
team in the Wroxeter arena. Friday
night was a bad night for both Bel-
more teams, the Goodyears playing
with the Fordwich team in the Ford-
wich rink and getting their first beat-
ing by a score of 9-1, The Canucks
journeyed to Kincardine to hook up
with the Kinloss hubs, Nickel scor-
ed the lone counter for the, Canucks.
The Rubs shot in six.
The committee appointed by the
Institute to name ladies to be in
charge of the lunch counter at the
arena met on Wednesday evening
and completed their task. All the la-
dies are asked to co-operate in this
project, and to date the response has
been most gratifying.
United Churdh Meeting
The annual meeting of the Behnore
United Church was held in the church
on 'Monday, Jan. 29th, Rev, j., H.
Martin was chairman for the meet.

cutive officers of all organizations. To-
tal revenue for the year was given by
the treasurer, Harry Gowdy, as being
$2,685.63. For the W.M.S., as given
by Airs. R. Rutherford, was $113.07.
Wilfred Johann gave the report for
the Sunday School, which showed the
sum of $184.26 had been raised, A
new heating system, the cost of which
was $.320.00 has been installed, with
ThornarA.braham and john Farrell
acting on the furnace committee. The
interior of the church, was re-decor-
ated at a cost of $345.00. The de-
corating committee was Mrs. Fled
Doubledee, Airs. Harry Mulvey and
Airs, Harry Gowdy. Officers elect-
ed for 1951 are as follows: Session,
H. Rutherford, R. Ballagh, Roy Gow-
dy and Arthur Fitch. Three new
members to the board of managers
were elected, namely, Harry Gowdy,

The BlackRose" The W.M,S, of the United 'Church
was held on Wednesday afternoon
at the home of Mrs. Nelson Hun-
kin with fifteen ladies present. Mrs,
Harry Gowdy tees in charge of the
meeting, Mrs, W. Elliott and Mrs.
Robert Nickel each gave a reading,
"Rocky Mountain" There was a good response to the
roll tall, "How to Improve Our Mis-
sionary Society". Mrs. Hunkin gave

ELECT NEW OFFICERS
The regular 'weekly meeting of the
Baptist Young People was held on
Sunday evening with Harold Pocock's
group, in charge, The following inter-
.vstillg Program was presented. All
joined in a hearty song service of
familiar choruses. Mrs. Bruce Mac-
Lean opened with prayer. An inter-
esting reading was given by Miss R,
Lewis, "The Death of Mrs. Prayer
Meeting." Miss Vivian MacLean read
the scripture taken from Romans 12.
"Twenty Questions," a very thought-
provoking quiz, was conducted by
Harold Pocock.
"Flaws" was the subject of a mes-
sage given by Win. Aitken, Just as
there are flaws in material, so there
are flaws in the lives of Christians
which must not be overlooked if we
are to pass the Final Inspection be-
fore God.
Air, Walter Pocock took the. chair
for the election of officers for the en-
suing year. The following officers
were elected: President, Harold Po-
cock; vice-president, Wm, Aitken,
secretary, -Helen Louise Pocock;
treasurer., Vivian MacLean; pianist,
Lois Burchill; social committee, Mrs.
Glen Schiefele, Mrs. Bruce MacLean,
Wilmar .ELarcourt, Archie Jones.
Harold Pocock closed the meeting
with prayer.
