it was decided to give a layette, each

On Wednesday night the Behnure
Canucks lost out to the Howick Lions
Iteani in the WroNeter arena. Friday
night was a bad night for both Bel-
more teams, the Goodyears playing
with the Fordwich team in the Ford-
-Melt rink and getting their first beat-
ing by a score of 9-1, The Canucks
journeyed to l<lineardine to hook up
with the Rubs, Nickel scor-
ed the lone counter for the Canucks.
The Rubs shot in six.
The committee appointed by the
Institute to name ladies to be in
charge of the lunch counter at the
arena met on Wednesday evening
and completed their task. All the la-
dies are asked to co-operate in this
project, and to date the response has
been most gratifying,

BAPTIST YOUNG PEOPLE
ELECT NEW OFFICERS
The regular weekly meeting of the
Baptist Young People was held on
Sunday evening with Harold Pocock's
group in charge. The following inter-
esting, program was presented. All
joined in a hearty song service of
familiar choruses. Mrs, Bruce Mact;
Lean opened with prayer. An inter-
esting reading was given by Miss H.
Lewis, "The Death of Mrs. Prayer
Meeting." Miss Vivian MacLean read
the scripture taken from Romans 12.
"Twenty Questions," a very thought-
provoking quiz, was conducted by
Harold Pocock,
"Flaws" was the subject of a mes-
sage given by Win, Aitken. Just as
there are flaws in material, so there
are flaws in the lives of Christians
which must not be overlooked if we
are to pass the Final inspection be-
fore God.
Mr. Walter Pocock took the chair
for the election of officers for the en-
suing year, The following officers
were elected: President, Harold Po-
cock; vice-president,. Wm. Aitken,
secretary, Helen Louise Pocock;
treasurer, Vivian MacLean; pianist,
Lois Burchill; social committee, Mrs.
Glen Schiefele, Mrs. Bruce MacLean,
Wihnar Harcourt, Archie Jones.
Harold Pocock closed the meeting
with prayer.
John Farrell and Nelson Hunkin.
The retiring managers are Earl .Me,
Nee., Fred Doubledee and •- Norman
Newans; treasurer, Harry Gowdy; or-
ganist, Mrs. Norman Newans; assist-
ant organist, Miss Velma Ballagh The
meeting closed with prayer by Rev. J.
Martin. At a meeting of the
board of stewards immediately after
the congregational meeting, Mr. John
Farrell was engaged as caretaker.
Congratulations to Mr. 'and Mrs.
Harold Finlay, who were married at
the manse on Thursday.

United Church Meeting
The annual meeting of the Belmore
'United Church was held in the church
on Monday, Jan, 29th. Rev. j. H.
Martin. was .chairman for the meet-
ing. and Roy Rutherford acted as sec-
retary. Reports were given by exe-
cutive officers of all organizations, Tu-
tal revenue for the year was viven by
the treasurer, Harry Gowdy, as being
$2,685.63,. For the 1V.M.S., as given
by Mrs. R. Rutherford, was $113,07.
Wilfred Johann gave the report for
the Sunday School, which showed the
sum of $184.26 had been raised. A
new heating system, the cost of which
was $820.0V has been installed, With
Thomas Abilliam and John Farrell
acting on the furnace committee. The
interior of the church was re-decor-
ated at a cost of $345.00. The de-
corating committee - was Mrs. Fred
Doubtedee, Mrs. Harry Mulvey and
Mrs. Harry Gowdy. Officers elect-
ed for 1951 are as follows: Session,
R. Rutherford, R. Ballagh, Roy Gow-
