Church dedicates
new organ
On Sunday morning greeting
worshippers into the United
Church were Rev. Snihur and
Trudy Pollard. The ushers were
Cliff Saundercock, Bob Trick, Carl
Nesbitt and Len Archambault.
The call to worship was given.
The decoration of the cross was
done by Ken and Laura Scott and
family. The candle was lit by
Christie. A plaque "King of the
Jews" was placed on the cross
under the crown of thorns.
Christopher VanLoo was pre-
sented with a Bible on graduating
from Junior congregation. There
was a dedication of the new church
electric organ. In memoriam funds
were in memory of Jim Neilans,
Ruth Shaddick, Leonard and Jean
Caldwell, Kenneth Jackson,
Gladys Armstrong, Bill Gordon,
Debra Newby, Gary Wilts, Wm.
and Jenny Lyons,. U.C.W., also
individual memorials. The child-
ren's time was held and "Hallelu-
jah" was sung and a story was read
about a puppet, a tennis ball that
talks. He was sad with a frown
which when turned upside down
made a smile. The junior teachers
were Lori Bromley and Kerri
Szusz. The organist was Lisa
Duizer and choir director, Marsha
Szusz.
Sharon Benson from London
played a selection of gospel hymns
on the organ which were enjoyed.
The scripture reading was the song
of Moses. The sermon was "music'
in our hearts" , stepping stones
across are devotions, faith, prayer
and music.
UCW holds dessert -meeting
On February 17, 15 members of
the U.C.W. enjoyed adessert of
cake and ice cream at 1:30 p.m. in
the church provided by Betty
Hulley, Margaret Good and Pearl
Mason.
The program was convened by
Helen Lee and Mary Longman.
The hymn, "Come sing of a
wonderful love" with Gail Lear at
the piano was sung. The scripture
was read by Mary Longman called,
"walk the second mile" and prayer
meditation was given by Helen
Lee: "A quitter never wins and a
winner never quits, look forward
not to the past, overcome depres-
sion by doing for others". She
closed with the poem "My Son".
Business was conducted by
presidentJoan Whyte. Shewel-
comed all and all repeated the
U.C.W. purpose. The secretary
Betty Hulley read the minutes of
the last meeting and the corres-
pondence. Thank you notes were
read from Allen and Ruth Shad -
dick, Hattie Wood, David Whyte,
Elsie Shaddick, Beryl Reid (for her
father Geo. Carter), Harold and
Annie Cunningham. An invitiation
to Walton on April 20 at 2 p.m. was
received. An acknowledgement for
$100 donation to Ronald McDonald
House was received and letters
from Huron Day Centre, Hensall
church (about their 100th anniver-
sary beginning March 18), a list of
other activities throughout the
coming year, and from consumer
and Home Craft operation.
The treasurer's report was
given. The balance was $1,983.69.
Offering was received singing "All
that we have".
Brenda Radford gave a very
interesting report of Huron -Perth
U.C.W. Presbyterial held in Exet-
er on January 27. There were 208

shuffleboard
There were 12 players on
February 19 at shuffleboard. High
score was held by Helen Lee. It will
be held again next week February
26 at the same time and place.
who answered the roll call. Next
year will be the 25th anniversary of
U.C. W. The London conference of
U.C.W. will be held in Stratford on
April 13 to 15/86. We hope some
from here will attend. Joan
thanked Brenda for her report.
There was some discussion on
upcoming business. The next
meeting will be the World's Day of
Prayer on March 7 at 8 p.m. in the
church.
For the program Helen Lee
introduced speakers from Hullett
Central school. Cathy Kennedy
spoke on alcoholics, Murray
Whyte on Clarence the cockroach
and Brent Radford on Summer
camp. They were thanked by
Audrey Thompson. The meeting
closed with hymn 502, "What a
Friend we have in Jesus" and
prayer was given by Mary Long-
man.

Londesboro news briefs
Sympathy is extended to Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Snell on the death
of her brother-in-law Archie Young
of Blyth, age 80.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Burns on the birth of their
granddaughter Heather born to
Barbara and Colin Paterson on
February 18 in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London, a sister for
Katie.
Mr. and Mrs. Dirk Garlichs of
Skating party held
A skating party was held on
Sunday, Feb. 23 from 3 to 4 p.m. at
Clinton arena and was enjoyed by
approximately 100 attending.
About 32 returned to the church for
a light lunch and fellowship.
The largest family present was
the Wilts family, youngest person
on skates was Gray Snihur who is 3
years, oldest person was Bob Peel,
and the lucky cup was won by
Kathy Kennedy.
Many thanks to the Life and work
committee for planning this.
Deanna Lyons of Londesboro was
one of the featured solo performers
when Blyth Figure Skating Club
held its achievement day Friday
night in Blyth.
