BRUSSELS NEWS
People around Brussels
Congratulations to Wendy Martin, Brussels, who obtained First
Class Honours in Grade 4 history of the Royal Conservatory of Music,
Toronto.
Brussels Lions Club has been holding weekly hockey draws with a
number of local people being lucky winners. Dec. 14 Myra Harvey won
$25, Ruth Machan, $15 and Jim Patterson, $10. December 21, Oscar
and Dorthea Ducharme won $40 and Larry Rice, $10. December 28th,
the top prize of $25 went to Flynn, Switzer, Hairsime and Barker while
Ken Franklin won $15 and Tom and Edna Pletch won $10.
Jane Devries spent her birthday in Woodstock with her family and
visited for over a month.
It has been a year to remember for young local skater Peter
MacDonald, both good and bad. The year started off with real promise
when he and partner Kerry Shepherd of Blyth placed well in several
competitions. But after they'd won their way to the divisional
championships and even bought their tickets for the trip north, Peter
got sick and couldn't compete. This week the two were to show their
talent for their two local clubs, Blyth on Friday night and Brussels on
Sunday. Peter injured his leg and had to miss both events.
Jack and Margaret McCutcheon visited for a couple of days last
week with Lou and Mae Ebel and family, Ingersoll, also called on Mr.
and Mrs. D. McCutcheon, Woodstock.

made". The hymn "His name is
Wonderful" was sung. The min-
utes of the December meeting
were read and approved. Mrs.
MacLeod and Helen Elliott gave a
report on the Presbyterialofthe
W.M.S. held in Wingham Presby-
terian church in January.
Evelyn Mair gave the financial
report. The allocation for this year
is $804. Isabelle Adams is to take

the Catholic church. Mrs. Mair
received the collection and it was
dedicated by Mrs. MacLeod. The

scenes" was sung with Helen
Elliott at the piano. Prayer was
given by Mrs. MacLeod.
The meeting was then turned
over to Helen Elliott who read the
scripture from psalm 8 and intro-
duced the study on native people
and then a film on the love of Native
Indian people was shown. A
discussion on the native people
was led by Mrs. MacLeod. Mrs.
Matheson led in prayer. The hymn
"The healing of the nations" was
sung. Mrs. MacLeod pronounced
