Women's, Institute
The Jlelgravc Women's Institute
held a Christmas meeting at the home
of Mrs. C. R. Coultes, with a large
attendance, The conveners were Mn.
H. Wheeler and Mrs. C. R. i'urdon.
Airs, Stewart Procter, the President,
w.as in the chair and opened the meet-
ing in the usual manner followed by
"Hark the Herald Angels Sing". Mrs.
Kenneth Wheeler read the minutes
and correspondence, A letter from the
President, Mrs, Fulcher was read. A
gift of ten dollars is to be sent Miss
McGowan, for use in her wort: in the
Children's Aid at Goclerich. Anything
that would be suitable in her work,
such as second hand skates or toys
are to be left at MacKenzie's Store.
Mrs. Walter Scott gave a reading.
Christmas Eve in the, City, and Mrs,
James !Michie sang a solo accompanied
by Mrs. J, M. Coultes. Rev, W. j.
Moores brought the Christmas mes-
sage. He react portions of l)lckcn's
Christmas Carol renewing memories of
Scrooge, Tiny Tim and Bob Crachit.
Mr. Moores suggested that each one
read this story to their families at this
Christmas Season. Mrs. Stanley Cook
conducted a contest on Christmas Car-
ols, The Roll Call was answered by
Christmas Memories of Our Child-
hood. The singing of Carols brought
the meeting to a close and refresh-
ments were served by the hostess as-
sisted by Mrs. John Anderon, Mrs.
Mary Wellings and Miss Edith Proc-
ter.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Smith of Ilespcler
and Mr. and Mrs, N. Montgomery of
London, spent the week -end at their
home here.
The Bodmin Farm Forum held a
miscellaneous shower for Mr. and Mrs.
Basil Hedgecock, who reside in Mr,
Robert Yuill's house,
Belgrave Junior and Senior Rooms
will present their Christmas Concert
on Wednesday, December 21, in the
Forester's Hall.
At the regular meeting of the Y.P.
U., the slides Christmas Blessings
were shown.
Knox United Church Services
Sunday, December 25t1t, 1949,
Christmas as well as Sunday. We
hope that a large congregation will
be out to service in the morning at 11
o'clock. The choir will render two
anthems, "Cradle of Bethlehem" •ut'I.
"The Christmas Glory Song." The
service will commence sharp at eleven
o'clock with a "Processional "0 Come,
all Ye Faithful". Please bring your
folders, to the service with you.
In the evening the Y.P, and mem-
bers of the Sunday School will put 'on
a "Pageant" entitled "Let Us Adore
Him." There will be a candlelight
procession and a scene from the Pro-
phecies of the O. T. wherein the
Priest in the Temple reads from the
sacred scroll of the conning of the
Messiah, '!'his scene will be dramatiz-
ed; a Priest with two helpers, after
which various scenes from the Nativity
will be enacted including the "Shep-
herd :scene" The Wise Men .ind the
Manger with Joseph and Mary and
tilt Mabe.
The choir will accompany some cf
these scenes, and intersperse with
musical numbers. They will render an.
anthem 'The First Song of Cbristtuas.'
WHITECHURCH
The regular ntontltly meeting of the
the Presbyterian Church,
was held ou Wednesday last, at the
home of Mrs. Ezra \'Vehvood, with the
President, Mrs. Jas. McInnis presid-
ing. All sang Christmas Carols, and
Mrs. Fred Newnan led in the respon-
sive reading of the Christmas Story in
Luke 2, ,firs. Frank Coulter had
charge of the meditation period. Mrs.
W. J, Coulter read a very interesting
Christmas Story, and Mrs. Jas. Wil-
son reviewed the Chapter in the Study
Book. Mrs, Jas. Mcllrath led in pray-
er. The Society had contributed over
$200 during the past year. The meet-
ing was closed by all repeating the
1.c,rd's Prayer.
On Sunday, two baby girls were
baptized in the Presbyterian Church,
Alma Eileen, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Wallace Conn, and Sandra Jean,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George
Fisher. The congregation are holding
a Christmas party in the Church this
Friday evening far the Sunday School
children.
The committee for the Community
Nights will hold a Euchre and dance
in the .,Memorial Hall here on Wed-
nesday, December 28., when the ladies
will bring Mitch.
Miss Margaret Jefferson of S. S.
No. 7, East \Vawanosh, held the
Children's Concert in the school on
Tuesday afternoon.
,lir. Clifford Laidlaw was moved
this week from the road gang here, to
the Kincardine beat. where he will be
for the winter months.
Mr. Aldin Purdon was able to return
home from Wingham Hospital on Fri-
day,
Mrs. Lorne Johnston and Mrs. Joint
Ryan were in London on Wednesday
with Mr. Johnston in Westminster
Hospital. -
Pupils of S. S. No. 10, Kinloss held
their annual Christmas concert in the
Memorial Hall on Friday evening,
with Rev, Mr. Currie as chairman.
With thirty-six pupils, the teacher,
Miss Anderson, had a splendid lot of
talent for the Christmas Cantata and
Christmas Tableaux, along with the
children's recitations and other Christ-
mas Carols. Following the program,
Ryan's Orchestra provided music for
dancing and lunch was served.

of Brick United Church was held on
