Mrs, Roy Turvey presided for 'The •
annual meeting of the Ladies' Aid
Soicety and led in the opening pray-
er. Mrs, Harvey Robertson read the •
scripture message. Mrs. Bernard
Thomas gave a fine report of the
meetings held by the Morris group,
showing that $79,64 had been turned in
to the general treasurer. The activities
of the triple group were reported +by
Mrs, Harry Elliott, this group has
nearly four times as many members,
and had $165,00 to its credit, co-oper-
ation and social intercourse seemed to
be the watchword,
The treasurer, Mrs. Arnold Lillow,
reported a substantial sum in the
ttreaSury with some obligations to
meet,
Mrs. Walter $millie conducted the
election of officers, with the following
resttlt. President, Mrs. Swint; vice-
president, Mrs, Burns Moffatt; Secre-
tary, Mrs. Harry Elliott; Treasurer,
Mrs. Arnold Lillow. The newly elect-
ed president closed the meeting with
prayer.
Jack Wickstead left here on Satur-
day for a visit to the home of his
birth in England. He will sail on
Tuesday, December 6th, from St,
John, New Brunswick, on the Em- •
press of Canada. He will visit with
brothers, sisters and other relatives at
Leeds, New Port and Coventry, re-
turning to Canada in February on the
same vessel,
Rev, Leland C, Jorgensen occupied
the pulpit at Knox Presbyterian
Church on Sunday•morning, His sub-
ject was Abraham, the man of Faith.
He spoke of Abraham's obedience to
the Call of God, The life he lived in
order to achieve the goal -a city which
bath foundations, whose builder and
maker is God. Next Sunday Commun-
ion service and the ordinance of bap-
tism will be observed at 11 a.m.
Commencing next Sunday the reg-
ular morning service will be at 11
o'clock followed by the Sunday School.
The Y.P,U, conducted the service
in the United Church on Sunday ev-
ening. The president, Miss Wilda
Breckenridge presided and opened the
meeting, with all joining in a song
service with Delores Hamilton, as
pianist. Shirley Burden of Wingham,
sang as a solo, "There's a Star in. the
Sky, and Ross Smith sang Nearer still
Nearer.
Mrs. J. A. Burden gave an address
on the 1st, chapter of Dr. Kenneth
Ileaton's book, "Growing with the
Years," and Rev. J. A, Burden gave
a short talk on the 1950 calendar of
'the United Church and offered the
closing prayer.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shaw had a
bit of tough. luck this week, when a
stray dog got into their hen house and
killed over, twenty of•their fine pullet-3
which were into the productive laying
season.
Several pupils 'from the Bluevale
School took part in the 2nd, annual
Choral Fesival at Wingham on Fri-
day night.
The play, "The Backwoods Romeo"
was presented in the Community Hall
on Friday night by a cast of yonng
people from Londesboro and was en-
joyed by all. It was sponsored by the
Y.P.U, of the United Church.
Mrs. Carl Johnston and infant son
are home from the Wingham. General
Hospital.
Miss Mary Robertson is • visiting
with her sister, Mrs. Margaret Nich-
olson at Belgrave.
Miss Josephine McAllister of St.
Augustine, is visiting her sister, Mrs.
Archie Messer,
Milton McVittie of Flint, Michigan,
spent a few days with his sister, Mrs.
