is a guest at the home of Mr, and
Mrs, Jeffery Musgrove, Mrs. Robert-
son and Mrs, Illesgrove are sisters,

al rs, Musgrove's Golden Wedding An-
eiversary on Dec. 13th,
Mr, Robert MacDonald, London,
spent last week with his mother, Mrs.
Freda MacDonald, Sir, Vie Bromley,
Toronto, was also a week-end guest at
the MacDonald home.
Farewell Party
On Tuesday evening last, the Wo-
men's Association of the United
Church, planned a farewell-party for
one of their faithful members, Mrs.
Freda MacDonald, who leaves this
week to take up residence in London,
The ladies quilted, later Mrs. Hart,
president, read an address and on
behalf of the members of the W.A.
Mrs. MacDonald was presented- with
a pin-up lamp, by Mrs. Leslie Doug-
las, Mrs. MacDonald graciously ac-
cepted the gift, expressing her pleas-
ure in being a member of the group.
Refreshments were served and a soc-
ial hour enjoyed,
Women's Missionary Society
The anneal candlelighting service
of the W,M.S. United Church was
held in the church school room on
Thursday, Dec. 1st., president, Mrs.
H. Hamilton was in charge. The meet-
ing was called to order with quiet
music, Miss K. Hazelwood at the
piano. The Call to Worship was given
in the following words; See how the
Shepherds summoned to His cradle,
leaving their flocks draw nigh with
Holy fear. We too will thither bend
our joyful footsteps, 0 Come let pus
adore Hint, Christ the Lord. Then
followed the reading of the Christmas
Story as found in the gospel of St.
Luks, ch. 2, verses 1-20. Four mem-
bers took part in the candlelighting
Mrs, .Munroe, Sirs. MacNaughton,
Mrs. Denny ,Mrs. Timm, and • in
keeping witth the theme "Our Faith
in Jesus Christ, candles were lighted
for our faith in Jesus Christ, The In-
carnate son of God!! The revealer of
God's Love! The Saviour of the
World. The Risen .Lord. Christmas
Carols were sung. The guest speak-
er was Mrs. Stewart Miner of Ford-
wich, whose theme was making room
for Christ, The speaker said in this
age, Christ was not given the place
He seeks in our lives. In our recrea-
tion, our homes, in our hearts, every-
where Christ is being crowded out. In
the joyous Christmas season. We
should think and speak of the real
meaning of Christmas and tell our
children of the Babe born in Bethle-
hem. In keeping with the subject,
Mrs, Miner read a poem, The Master
is coming, Miss Thelma Denny favor-
ed with a solo, Mrs; Cronhielm spoke of
the. Christmas Church calendars avail-
able for W.M.S, members and others
wishing to purchase them. Mrs.
Hunter gave a report for the Good
Cheer Committee for 1949„The Exec-
utive were named a committee to draw
up the programme for 1950. Mrs.
Hunter presented the following slate

joyed,
Presentation To Mrs. MacDonald
Mrs. Freda MacDonald is leaving
this week to take tip residence in
Londbn. Before leaving she was lion-
oured by friends in the village and
community and presented with a Bo-
lova watch and pair of Travelling Cas-
es, also a gift of money. Mrs, Mac-
Donald's yearn spent in the village
have won for her many warm friends.
She possessed all the qualities of a
good citizen and will be missed in the
church, the neighbourhood and com-
munity. Best wishes are extended for
all that is best in her new home and
community.
Surprise Party on 25th Anniversary
Honouring Mr, and Mrs. Melvin
Finlay of Howick on their 25th Wed
ding Anniversary which took place
ott Saturday, December 3rd. Their
family and relatives planned a surprise
party at their home, and presented
them with an occasional chair, Both
expressed appreciation of the kindly
retnembrattee on the spacial occasion.
Izefreshments were served and a
euchre game enjoyed. Mrs. Finlay was
the former Gertrude Hyslop, and with
her husband has lived ott the same
farm where they went as bride and
groom. Everyone in the community
will join with their family in wishing
Mr, and Mrs, Pinky, good health,
happiness and prosperity hi the com-
ing years.

Interest to an interview over CKNX
Wingham, on Sunday afternoon, when
Toni Rafferty, of the Station Staff,
interviewed Rev. J. C. Caley, rector
of St. James Church, Wroxeter, The
subject, The Isle of Mann, Mr. Caley,
a native of the Isle of Mann, visited
his home land this past summer. He
spoke of its history, government, music
literature and described the natural
beauty of this island o f 50,000 people.

Sir. George StacEwen has returned
from a week's hunting in the North
country. He was lucky in bringing
down a deer, which was shared whim
his neighbors upon his return.
A successful auction sale of house-
hold furniture was held on Saturday
at the home of Mrs. Freda MacDon-
ald. Frank Kemp of Listowel, was the
auctioneer. Mrs. MacDonald will leave
shortly to take, up residence in Lon-
don.
