where the University and Museum
were visited.
The crossing was made to Ireland,
landing at Belfast. After touring the
city, they travelled to Donegal to look
up family connections, Lion George
gave a graphic description of a ride
on a narrow gauge railway on their
way to Donegal. Most of the way was
down hill with the cars swaying
around sharp bends and George said
it was a thrilling experience. On their
return to Belfast, they crossed ofer
to Androssan, Scotland and then on
to Leeds. A stopover was made at
Harrowgate where flowers were in
evidence everywhere.
Recalling scenes in Ireland, the
houses in rural areas were whitewash-
ed and hedges were filled with fus-

log place of the 99th Battery was
found. A visit was made to Rouen
and on to Dieppe. They returned to
England from Dieppe and proceeded
at once to Edinburgh. They spent
some time sightseeing and then went
<At to Dundee. They had an opportun-
ty to visit the world famous St. An-
drew's golf course and managed to
get in a few strokes on one of the
greens. Later at Stirling, they visited
many of the historic battlefields and
nook a boat trip on LoCh Kathrine.

chias. On return to London some
time was spent around Picadilly, the
Strand, Hyde Park and a visit was
made to Windsor Castle. A tour of the
castle was made as well as a vist to
St. George's Chapel where King
George V is buried. After a visit to
Oxford and Startford, they returned
to London. Lion George recalled that
Lions night was due shortly so they
decided to fly home. They left London
and flew to Prestwick, Scotland pass-
ing over Birmingham brilliantly light-
ed and a wonderful sight from 10,000
feet.
After having breakfast at Prestwick
at 1 a.m. they left for Iceland where
they again had breakfast and spent one
hour. Proceeding on for Goose Bay,.
Labrador, they crossed over Green-
land and saw many mountain peaks as
well as glaciers and icebergs breaking
away. After breakfast at Goose Bay,
they enjoyed the three hour trip to
Montreal and one and a half hours on
to /s/Talton where they were met and
driven home to Wingham. This was
quite a record for travelling, leaving
Prestwick, Scotland at 1 a.m, and ar-
riving in Wingham at 10 p.m., the
same day. Five hours were added due
to changing from one .,time zone to
another.
