Mr, and Mrs. Ken Hastie spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mac- Donald of Molesworth. Prior to his departure for Germany, Mr. John Koch was honored by neigh- bors who presented him with a gold wrist watch and a social evening was enjoyed at Toner's School. Mrs, Lida Balfour of Listowel, vis- ited friends in town on Sunday., The condition of Mr. August Keil, who has been confined to bed for the past six weeks remains much the same. Mr, and Mrs. Chas. Morris and daughter, Patricia of Toronto, are vis- iting with Mrs. Mortis' brother, Mr. C. D. Walmsley and Mrs. Walmsley. Mr. Wm. Corbett suffered a weok spell while down town on Saturday and is confined to his bed. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Galbraith of, Geraldton, are visiting the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Galbraith, and other relatives. Mrs. Reta Carson was in London last Monday having her arm Prayed again. It was found necessary that the cast be replaced for another two months. Mrs. Carson suffered injjur- ies in a car accident last March. The Woman's Association of the United Church will meet at the home of the President, Mrs. E. J. Farrish, on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 22nd. A number from this vicinity at- tended the Clifford Fair last Wednes- day, which Was particularly good this year, having a fine showing of horses. Mrs, Bill Martin of Guelph, spent the week-end at the home of her par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Anson Galbraith, Mrs. Galbraith returned with Mrs, Martin for a week's visit' in Guelph. Miss Eleanore Carson of Toronto, spent the week-end at her home. Harvest Thanksgiving Service The annual Harvest Thanksgiving Service of St. Stephen's Church will be held on Sunday, Sept. 25th, at 2.30 p.m. The rector, Rev. J. C. Caley will preach and special music is being Prepared. The W. A, of St. Stephen's church will meet for quilting in the Orange Hall on Thursday afternoon at 1.30 .p.m. A full attendance is requested. Tea and Bake Sale On Friday afternoon a successful tea and hake sale was held in the S. S. room of the United Church, which was beautifully decorated. A lovely lace cloth covered the table and aut- umn flowers adorned the centre at which Mrs. Robt, Ashton and Mrs. L. N. Whitely poured tea, A fine vari- ety program of instrumental and reci- tations was enjoyed, The proceeds were in aid of a Projector for the showing of pictures in the Sunday TELEPHONES-534-535 School and Church. Walmsley gave an address, Marilyn and Lorne Mann sang a duet, "Have you been in the Garden With Jesus," Harvest Home Service In keeping with the bountiful har- vest the United Church was decorated with corn, grain, fruits and vegetables of many varieties, for the Harvest Moine service on Sunday morning. Watt based his remarks on "May the Peace of God be in Your Hearts and be Ye Thankful," Special music was render- a ed by the choir. a Mrs. Bernice Stimpson After an illness of only a few days front pneumonia, Mrs. Bernice Stimp- son passed away at her home here MI early on Sunday morning. She was born in Wallace Township, in Decem- ber, 1875, the youngest daughter of the late Thomas Maguire and Albino. Hollingshead.
