Coun. Campbell reported for the
11 Street Committee giving a quick stun-
k wary of duties carried out along the

The Carling Terrace sewer had been
thoroughly checked and was in good
condition, the sidewalk on Catharine
Street was progressing. Sidewalk on
Diagonal Road would be completed
shortly. A manhole would be installed
at the pump house, The quota of iCal-
cium Chloride for the year had been
used up. The sewer on Scott Street
had been completed and laterals in-
stalled, The street was now ready for
paving.
Reeve Johnson reported that Coun-
ty Engineer Patterson had examined
Scott Street and felt that it should
stand over winter as hot weather was
required to make a good job of pav-
ing.
Coun. Rintoul reported for the Pro-
perty Committee that Mr. Froome
had completed the siding of the hose
tower and he felt a good job had been
made. He suggested that the wiring
for the two buildings and the weigh
scales be combined into one unit and
money could be saved,
Moved by Court. Campbell and
Reeve Johnson that we grant the
Chairman of the Property Committee
power to have the Hydro services
combined at the Fire Hall. Carried.
Coun. Gurney reported for the
Cemetery Committee that he was do-
ing his best to secure the steel fence
ordered earlier.

,Marshall was read drawing attention
to Fire Prevention Week, October 9th
to 15th, It was agreed that this be left
with Chairman Hugh Carmichael to
arrange with the Fire Chief,
The Clerk read a copy of regula-
tions of the Department of Highways
in regard to erection of gasoline
pumps. Moved by Coun, Welwood and
Coun. J2:intoul that we grant permis-
sion to Mr. Nelson Cunningham to
erect gasoline pumps at his property
On Josephine Street North. Carried.
A letter was read from Mr. Hedley
B. Burden asking further considera-
tion of a permit for erection of gaso-
line pumps at his proposed store on
Diagonal Road. Moved by Coun.

Fire Committee that he ukuld draw
the attention the Fire Chief to Fire
Prevention Week.
Coun. Clark reported for the Wel-
fare Committee that one case of relief
had been looked after.
Coun. Welwood reported for the
Band Committee that several success-
ful band concerts had been held.
The matter of a clean up day for the
Town was mentioned. Coun. Campbell
advised that Mr. Angus usually cruis-
ed around the Town on Saturday morn
ings and any rubbish deposited outside
.the sidewalks was picked up. It was
agreed to publicize this service.
Coun. Welwood gave notice of mot-
ion that at a subsequent meeting he
would introduce a motion that the
Council adopt a section of the Town
Planning Act.

Largely attended Anniversary ser-
vices were held in the United*Church
on Sunday. In the morning, Rev. M.
G. Newton of St. Helens, was guest
preacher, and in the evening, Rev.
John Watt of Gorrie. The choir
had prepared special music and was
assisted in solos by Mrs. Allen White
of Clifford and by Mrs. Charles Hoff-
man and Mr. Fred Mc,Cutcheon in
duets.. Baskets of beautiful garden
flowers were ,used in decorations, and
the choir wore their new gowns for
the first time. Rev. J; A. Burden is the
minister and Mrs. W. J. Johnston, the
organist.
The first log building used for wor-
ship dates from 1858, the first frame
church from 1866, and the present
brick church on the same site from
1907,
New extra seats have been placed in
the school room to' accommodate al-
most half a hundred pupils. A big job
for one teacher. The beginners are
seven: Mary Fischer, Nancy Fowler,
Joan McFarlane, Sharon Grubbe,
Nancy Taylor Gertrude Kominiski and
Harold Pierce.
Mrs. Albert Barry, Sarnia and Mr.
George Thomson jr., Toronto, spent
a few days with their parents, Mr. and
Mrs. George Thomson.
,Mrs. Harry 'Bosnian, formerly of
Bluevale, accompanied her daughters,
Mrs, R, H. Lloyd, Wingham and Mrs.
Davidson, Vancouver, on a visit to her
friend, Mrs. Arthur Shaw, Mrs, Lloyd
and Mrs. Davidson and their husbands
had Oust retuned from a trip to the
Old Country. Mrs, Bosnian is up-to-
date although 92 years of age, and is
delighted over the birth of twin great-
grandchildren, son and daughter of
Mr. and Mrs, Norman Welwood.
Mr. Wilson Thornton and Mr.
Clarence Golley attended the C.N.E.
in Toronto last Tuesday and Wednes-
day.
Mr. and Mrs, Jack Wickstead and
Mrs. George Thornton visited last
week with Mr. and Mrs. Neil Mc-
Lean in Toronto and while there at-
tended the Exhibition,
Mr, and Mrs. J. H. Smith spent
Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. Frank
Little in Morris.
