speedy recovery.

funeral of Ven. Archdeacon A. L. G.
Clarke, D.D., of Brantford, who died
suddenly Wednesday at his summer
home near Forest.

relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tinsley of Ham-
ilton, were week-end guests of Mr.

Mrs. R. J. Hueston
Following a long illness Mrs. R, J.
Hueston passed away on Saturday in
the \\Ingham General Hospital. The
funeral service was held on Monday
afternoon at the M. D. Irvin Funeral
Home, with interOnellt in the Gorrie
Cemeterv.
Mrs. Elizabeth Furrott and son, Mr.
Geo. Purrott of Hamilton, are visit-
ing this week with Mr. and Mrs. NV.
C. King and other relatives. Mr. and
Mrs. J, J. Moffatt, Mr. and Mrs. Cedril
Moffatt, Mary Lou and Elaine, were
Sunday -visitors at the same home,
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest King on Sunday
and called on old friends.
Ur, and Mrs. Bob Featherston of
visited the latter's parents,
Mr. and 'Mrs. Frank King over the
week-end.
Mr. and Mrs. EarlDiehl and Mrs. B.
Diehl of Guelph, spent Sunday at the
home of Mr. and Mrs, Gordon Edgar.
Mrs. B. Diehl will remain for a week's
visit. Mr. Archie Edgar of London, is
a guest at the same home.
Mr. E. Swift returned to his home
in Toronto on Saturday, after a week's
visit with his daughter, Mrs. Harold
Edgar and Mr. Edgar.
Mr. and Mrs. P. McCallum relieving
Bank Manager, spent the week-end at
Kincardine,
Mr, and Mrs, Hugh Patrick visited
Mr, and Mrs. August Keil on Satur-
day enroute from a holiday in North-
ern Ontario to their home in St.
Thomas.
Quite a number from here were in
Listowel on Saturday for the Derry
Day celebration.
Mrs. Frances Earngey and Miss
Muriel Lambert have moved here from
Guelph, to the Armstrong home.
Mrs. E. Fallis of Fordwich, is vis-
iting with Mrs. Vera Gregg and her
sister, Mrs, Hilton Ashton.
Born—In Wingham General Hospi-
tal on Saturday, August 13th, to Mr.
and Mrs. Hector Hamilton, a son.
Mr. Alex Edgar sr., returned from
Victoria Hospital, London, on Sun-
day, and his condition is reported as
fine.
Mr, and Mrs. Cloyne Michel and
Karen, are enjoying a week's vaca-
tion at Pembroke and at North Bay.

The Women's Association of the
United Church will hold their August
meeting in the park in the form of a
picnic. Ladies please bring lunch.
Township Hall Renovations
Work. is progressing nicely at the
township community hall. The floor
has been raised and excavating com-
pleted with the bull dozer. The base-
ment floor is being cemented this
week. A well was found underneath
the hall. It has been cleaned out and
the water found to be good. Prior to
the building of the present hall in
1885 a shoe shop and residence were
located there, owned by Jas, Perkins
and later by the Croskery family.

Impressive induction at Hope Un-
ited Church. A Commission of the
Lambton Presbytery of the United
Church met with members of Hope
and Ebenezer church on Friday even-
ing, to induct. Rev. G. G. Howse as
pastor.
The assembly hall was well filled.
The service was in charge of Rev. A.
B. Irwin, of Divine Street, Sarnia.
His sermon was on address on "Love"
as the compelling motive of all Chris-
tian service. His text was taken from
John 22: 15, where Jesus gave His
command unto Peter, "Feed My
Sheep."
The address to the minister and the
people was given by Rev. E. C. Lac-
ey, of Erie Street United Church,
Watford. He outlined the work of the
ministry and the necessity of the
people recognizing their responsibility
to work with the minister.
A reception was held at the close
of the service when Mr, and Mrs. ;
Howse and family were introduced to
the people. The ladies of the Women's '
Association served a dainty lunch and
representatives from both congrega-
tions spoke words of welcotne.
The closing words were given by
the new minister who pledged him-
self to do his best and asked for the
