Mrs. Ernest Jacques of Caledonia, visited with Mrs. R. Ashton on Sun- day. Rev. J. C. and Mrs, Caley, and Dav- id, are visiting Mr. Caley's parents at Rodney this week. David will remain rear a longer visit. Mr. and Mrs. H. V, Holmes and Miss Perkins, are spending some time at their cottage at Bruce Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Telford Montgomery, Lois, Grant and Ivan of Kitchener, visited with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Montgomery on Sun- day. Mr. and Mrs. T. Montgomery are moving from Kitchener to London next week. Miss Lois Montgomery, a recent graduate of the Stratford Normal School, has secured a position on the London Public School Staff. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. King were guests on Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Vic Shera at Moorefield... Mr. Lawrence Short is spending a holiday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Short. Mrs. Jas. Hoey and Mrs. Wilfred Brown of Detroit, are spending some time with Mrs. L. Sanderson and Leonard, also with other relatives in the vicinity. Misses Grace Garbitt of Walkerton and Jacqueline Gilmar of Carrick, have been awarded a month's vacation in Quebec for high marks in French at Walkerton High School. The stud- ents have to speak in French while there. On their return home two French students will accompany them and speak English during their stay here. Rev. j. C. Caley Returns Rev. J. C. Caley who arrived home on Thursday evening was welcomed by his congregation at the Anglican Church on Sunday, after a ten weeks' trip to the Isle of Man, Ireland and England. Mr. Caley reports a very en- joyable trip to his native land. Junior Farmer Church Service The Huron County Junior Farmer First Annual Church Service will be held in the Ontario St. United Church, Clinton, on Sunday, July 31st., at 8 p.m. D.S.T. Guest speaker will be Rev. W. A. Young, B.S.A., B.D The music will be led by a county Junior Far- mer choir. Orange Memorial Service Howick District L. 0. L. Memorial Service will be held in the Gorrie cemetery on Sunday, August 7th, at 2.30 p.m. Rev. J. C. Caley will give the address. Baseball At a recent game Gorrie defeated the Stone School with a score of 22-3. On Thursday evening at the first ot. the semi-finals, best two out of three series, Belgrave won with a score of 11-4.
