Mr. and Mrs. William Griffiths and
son, Fred of Montreal, will spend the
next two weeks at their summer home
here.
Miss Norma McNimm of Toronto, is
spending her vacation with her sister,
Mrs. Lillow and Arnold.
Miss Eileen McKinney has returned
to her duties at Victoria Hospital,
London, after a two week's holiday,
Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Lillow, Strat-
ford, spent Sunday with Mrs. Lillow.
Mr. and Mrs. R. Elliott, Mrs. R. P.
Garniss, Mac and Olive Scott, spent
part of Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
PJoe Chilvers at Kincardine.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Elliott and
family, visited the latter's brother,
Mr. Tony Meahan at London,
Preached At Knox Church
Mr. R. A. McConnell of Lucknow,
occupied the pulpit of Knox Presby-
terian Church on Sunday, preaching
on the theme, "Live the lives you pro-
fess to live." Bob Cunningham sang
the solo, "Bless This House." The
regular service and Sunday School will
be cancelled next Sunday as Rev. Le-
land C. Jorgensen is having his vaca-
tion.
Presentation To Newlyweds.
The Community Hall was the•scene
of a social-function this week when
William Bremner and his bride, the
former Miss Frances Shaw were hon-
oured by their many friends. A com-
plimentary address was read by Miss
Shirley Agar and Bob Fraser present-
ed the newly weds with a sum of mon-
ey, to which Mr. Bremner.made a suit-
able reply. Dancing was enjoyed to
music provided by Tiffin's Orchestra.
Refreshments were served by the lad-
ies.
Mrs. W. HI Gardner
Word has been received of the death
in Toronto on Wednesday, July 20th,
of Isabel Richardson, wife of William
H. Gardner, a former resident of Blue-
vale. Mrs. Gardner was born on the
Bluevale Road near the village and
spent her early girlhood here. She is
survived by one daughter, Mrs. W.
H. Collins (Jessie), Toronto, and two
sons, Harold of Hamilton and John
of Sarnia. Interment took place at
Lions Head on Friday, July 22nd.
The deceased was a cousin of Craik
Cleghorn.
Knox Ladies Aid
Mrs. Oliver Campbell opened her
home this week for the monthly meet-

Mr, G, D. Boyd of Torrinto, is re-
lieving Ur, Harry Scott, teller at the
Dominion Bank, while he is on his
annual vacation,
Mr. Geo. Beattie of Wingham, will
be in charge of the Dominion Bank,
while the Manager, Mr. C, D. Walm-
sley is on a three weeks vacation,
commencing August 4th, Mr, Walm-
sley and family will spend their holi-
days in, Muskoka.
Mrs, Nelson Gowdy and daughters,
Merle and Muriel of London, have
been visiting relatives here.
Friends of Mrs. Mac Abram of Lis-
towel, formerly of Gorrie, will be sorry
to learn that she has been ill in the
hospital for two weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Rus Ruttan were
guests on Saturday, July 16th, at the
marriage of Mrs. Ruttan's sister, Isla
Jean Dickison to Elmer E. Ross, at
the home of the bride's, parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Wm. C. Dickison, Teesyater.
Miss Alice Dickison was her sister's
bridesmaid, and little Marion Ruttan,
was flower girl. Wilfred Ross, bro-
ther of the groom, was Best man.
Quite a number of Institute mem-
bers and their families enjoyed a pic-
nic at Port Elgin beach on Wednesday
last.
BLYTH
(Intended for last week)
Burglars broke into Blyth Farmers'
Co-Operative t Co. building sometime
early Tuesday morning and destroyed
the safe, removing therefrom cash,
cheques, etc. The amount of loss is not
yet determined.
Mrs. Lloyd Wettlaufer and daugh-
ter, Rhonda, returned to their home
in Burgessville on Sunday after a
couple of weeks visit with the former's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. R. El-
liott.
The Charles, Johnston family and
the family of rank Elliott have re-
turned from a couple of weeks at
Bogie's Beach.
We are sorry to report the contin-
ued illness of Mr. Dobbyn in Clinton
Hospital.
Mrs. Walter Magill entertained
group 4 of the W. A. of the United
Church on Tuesday aftern000n, A
splendid program and a special item
was_a reading by_Miss Melba McEl-
roy B. A., of Guelph Collegiate and
a splendid pot luck supper was thor-
oughly enjoyed.

the former's sister, Miss Alice Gilles-

Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Johnston have
returned to their own home after
spending the past three months at a
nursing home in Mitchell. Mr. John-
ston is able to be around,
Rev. Russel Horsburgli of Creigh-
ton Mines, will conduct anniversary
services at the Fordwich United
Church on Sunday next, July 31st.
Miss Beatrice Wade spent a few
days last week at Powassan and other
points in Northern Ontario.
The vacation Bible School which has
been conducted here for the past two
weeks closes on Friday. There has
been a good attendance, over sixty
being there some days.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jarrow and
two sons of New York, are spending
two weeks at the home of the latter's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Craig:.
Mr. Clayton Brown of Hearst, is
spending his vacation at the home of
his father, Mr. Wni, Brown,
Mr. and Mrs. ,Lyal Armstrong and
son, Bobbie, who have been visiting
relatives in 1-7ordwich, ..Listowel and
other points in Ontario, left last week
by motor to return to their home in
Tyner, Sask. They were accompanied
by the former's mother, Mrs, Florence.
Armstrong, who has been here. since
February when she came east owing
to the illneSs of her father, Mr. Alex
Gibson of Listowel.
Messrs. Earl Patterson, Wm, Mc-
Dwain, Herb Collins and Norman
Wade, attended the annual meeting of
the Grand Lodge of Canada, in the
Province of Ontario, A.E. & A. M,,
which was held in Toronto on Wed-
nesday. Mr, Thos, Salkeld of Luck-
now, well known as an exhibitor at
the local fair was elected D.D.G,M.,
for North Huron.
Miss Thelma Reis of Ottawa, is
spending her vacation at the home of
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Noah Reis.
Mr, toslie (Knight recently under
went ail operation for cataracts in his
eyes in Stratford General Hotpital.

to Toronto to meet her husband, Rev.

and will spend their vacation with Mr.
and Mrs. Cecil Blackmore at Grimsby
Beach and with Mr. and Mrs. Ray-
mond Elliott.

Lennox and Mrs. Emerson Shera, of
Wingham, visited with Miss Gretta
Fleming at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
J. C. Higgins.
Mrs. Milton Watson of Gorrie, is
visiting her sister, Mrs. W. J. John-
ston.
Mr. and Mrs. Portland of Coiling-
wood, were Sunday guests at the home
of Mr. and Mrs, R. H. McKinnon,
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Blackmore, of
Grimsby Beach, Mr. and Mrs. J. S.
Elliott, Ipperwash Beach, Dr. and Mrs.
Kay and daughter, Roselyn, Toronto,
visited this week with Mr. and Mrs.
Raymond Elliott.

The president, Mrs. Bill. Elston pre-
sided and opened the meeting with
prayer. The scripture lesson was read
by Mrs. R. J. McMurray, The report
of the secretary-treasurer was present-
ed by Mrs. Bernard Thomas. It was
decided to do some Cl104;111 quilting
later in the summer, A quilt was quilt-
ed for the hostess in the afternoon.
There were seven members and two
visitors. Refreshments were served by
Mrs, Campbell assisted by her daugh-
ters.

reunion held in :Memorial Park, Lis-
towel. Five generations were repre-
sented, Mr. Alex. Gibson, Listowel,
only surviving member of the late
Robert Gibson's familN, Mrs. Esther
Ann Montgomery, eldest daughter of
Thomas Gibson, her daughter, Mrs. W.
J. Roberts, the latter's daughter, Mrs.
Merle Leadston, and son, Tommy
Leadston, all of Listowel. Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Erase, (nee Mary Gibson) •
and two daughters, Ruth and Barbara,
also Mrs. Elizabeth Bartlett and dau-
ghter, Carol, all of Glendale, California,
came the greatest distance.
