Mrse J. J. Allen, Toronto, has ar- rived in town and taken up residence in her home for the summer months. Mrs. Wm. Wright and Miss Win- tared Munro, are holidaying a the Munro Cottage, Amberley. Mr. and'iMrs. II, Millar of Det- roit, Michigan, ere holidaying with Mr. and Mrs, Robert Gibson. Miss Patricia Martin, Toronto, is a visitor with her aunt, Mrs, J. IL Wylie, Misses Elsie and Marian Gibson ar- rived from Winnipeg last week to spend the holiday months at their sum- home here. Mr. and Mrs, Edward Gibson of Hamilton, are their guests this week. Mr, Jack Edgar, Fort Frances, is spending the holidays with his mother, Mrs. Hugh Edgar. Master David and Miss Mary Cron- hielm are holidaying with friends near Goderich. Mrs. Martin has taken and'furn- ished an apartment in the J. N, Allen Block. Mrs. Martin's residence was destroyed during the winter when Wroxeter suffered a serious hitt in its business section, Recent guests of Mrs..W. E, Van- Velsor were Mr. and Mrs. John Ber- ger, also Mr, and Mrs. W. Tazzman, all of Woodstock. Mr. and Mrs. George Stewart, De- troit, were week-end guests of Mrs. A. J, Sanderson. Belgrave, Ball Team played a friendly game with our home team on Tuesday evening. The visitors had a decisive victory. Mrs. George Lackie, London, and a former Wroxeter resident, is spending this week with Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Maclean. Sympathy is extended to the family of the late John Sparling. Many friends from this district attended the funeral services on Sunday afternoon at Gor- rie United Church. Women's Institute Mrs. George Lane was hostess on Wednesday of last week to the mem- bers of Wroxeter Women's Institute There was a good attendance of mem- bers and several visitors signed their names in the Book of Memory. First Vice-President, Mrs. Vern Denny, presided. Mrs. Alvin Moffat had charge of the motto. "Blessed is. she who by her skill, can cure another mortals ill," and chose to speak on the Life Story of Florence Nightingale, pointing out her fine example to all who chose nursing as their life work. The Roll Call Cash Donation for the Winghain General Hospital brought a fine response, and Mrs. Munro, Mrs. Denny and . Mrs. MacLean were ap- pointed to take charge of it. An exhibit Something new out of —Something old. was of interest on the jedges, Mrs. R. B. Palmer, and 'Mrs. Grice of Hamil- ton, made the following awards, 1st., Child's hand made sweater, Mrs. U. E. Cronhiehn,.2nd., crochet mat, Mrs. W. T. MacLean, 3rd., Flower container, Mrs. M. Sellers, all were suitably re- warded with prizes, Mrs. Wm. Hart gave interesting Current Events, with special items on Health. Mrs. Munro was in charge of the topic, "Health" and gave much information on the new drugs, being used. Mrs. Munro gave a kind invitation to members to hold their annual picnic at their cot- tage at Amberley, which invitation was heartily accepted to be held on Thurs- day, July ,28th Mrs. L. Brothers and her niece, Miss Cosey Brothers, who was a guest favoured with two delight- ful piano duets. Little Miss Anne Douglas played a piano solo.• "Mary Margaret." Mrs, Munro introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. 0. G. Ander-, son of Winghatn, who explained very clearly the new Huron Co-Operative Medical Hospitalization Plan, Mrs. Frank Sanderson expressed to Mrs. Lane the appreciation of the members for her fine hospitality. Tea was ser- ved, assisting the hostess were, Mrs. T. Parker, Mrs. V. Brothers, Mrs. Wm. Hart, Mrs. John Lane. Women's Missionary Society Miss Elva Hupfer of Sudbury, was guest speaker at the July meeting of W.M.S. Wroxeter United Church. 'Under the theme Home Missions, the speaker. told of the work of some of the Missionaries who take care of new Canadians, Meeting them up'on arrival, finding work and welcoming them into the fellowship of the church of all nations, and finally made an appeal for more peayer, for one another and lot the work of Missions. The worship service was arranged by Mrs. A, Y. Sanderson. $eeretary of Home Help- ers and Mrs. W. G. Gibson, under the heading Lord of the Lands make Can- ada Thine Own. Presideut, Mrs. Ham,. ilton gave the call to worship, Mrs, - Gibson read the lesson from St. johns Gospel. Mrs, Sanderson led in prayer, Miss Denny presented 4 Temperance fact, The Roll Call was answered by • a Home Mission Item, Mrs. L. Broth- ers and her niece, Miss Cosey Broth- ! ers favored with a piano duet. Mrs. Brothers also .accompanied Misses Catherine MacDonald and Miss Mar- jorie Moffat when they sang a duet. Missionary hymns used were Zion's King shall reign Victorious and In Christ there is no East or West. Mrs. Hamilton expressed thanks to all who had prepared the worship service. the special music and the speaker for her interesting address, Time meeting clos- *I with prayer. Bride-To-Be Honoured Mrs, Norman Brandon, Toronto, en- tertained a group of friends at her home on Friday night, honouring Miss Margaret Moffat whose marriage to Mr.' Graham Work of Brussels, takes place shortly, Miss Moffat was the recipient of a miscellaneous shower.
