ed by fire when struck by lightning,
during a severe electrical storm.

for six, weeks, taking a summer course
at the Normal School. Miss Lois Gras-

Memorial Decoration Service
A large crowd attended the Mem-
orial service in Brandon cemetery in
the evening of Sunday, July 3rd. Rev.
George Milne of Brussels was in
charge of the service and gave the
address. He was asssited by Rev. \V,
IJ. Moores and Mr. Harry Hopper.

Bruce Family Reunion
The newly organized picnic and re-
union of the Bruce family was held
on the flats of the beautiful Maitland
River on the farm of Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Chamney, on July 1st., when
about fifty were present. Swimming
softball and other sports were enjoyed.
Members were present from London,
St. Marys, Goderich, Blyth, Brussels,
and Belgrave. The. oldest member pre-
sent was Mr. Emanuel Stapleton and
the youngest, Tina Jane Baynes. After
a delicious picnic supper the gathering
called to order. It was decided to make
it an annual event.

Plans were made for the hale.
The day not being overly hut, a
;most enjoyable time was spent at For-
Imosa Park, on Thursday afternoon,
when Illuevale and liehn,we Presby-
terian congregations held their picnic
,with bathing, swimming, boating,
baseball, racing, kicking the slipper
.:and other amusements, The afternoon
slipped away. All sat down to a bount-
eous lunch.
Many took advantage of the holi-
day to visit friends. Mr. Harkness is
visiting' Mr's, John Harper and her
mother.

Mr. Bob Paulin, Toronto, visited
with his brother and sister-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Wes, Paulin,
-Mr. and Mrs. James C. Grice and
their grandson, Master James Sniith
of Hamilton, are vacationing for a
week as the guests of Mr, and Mrs. H.
V. McKenney.

Mr. and Mrs. ,Millward and family
were in Toronto over the holiday
weekend where they visited Mr. Mill-
ward's father who has been in the
hospital, having undergone a major op-
eration a week ago.
A family reunion took place at the
William Smeaton summer cottage at
Inglewood on Saturday last where
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Draper and Wayne
were guests of Mrs. Draper's parents.
It, Mr. Louie Keys and Mr. Lorne Fos-
ter, both of Orangeville, called on
friends in the village one day during
the past week.

the Gorrie L.O.B.A., paid a surprise
visit to the home of a member, Mrs.
Lloyd Hockridge, nee Janet Watson,
a bride of a few weeks. A social time
was enjoyed and during the evening,
