NEW PARISH PRIEST
AT ST. AUGUSTINE
The Reverend Louis J. Phelan, who
has been in charge of the Parish of
St. Augustine for the past four years
has been transferred by the Most Rev-
erend J. T, Kidd, D.D., Bishop of
London, Father Phelan has been ap-
pointed pastor of the Parish of Logan
and Mitchell. The parishioners are
saddened as they have come to 'be
very attached to their pastor, How-
ever they are singing "Live long,
good pastor." The Reverend William
G. Smith has been appointed to .sue-
coed Father Phelan. Father Smith
comes with much experience in parish
work, having served as assistant at
St. Peter's Cathedral, St. Martin's,
London and St. Mary's Simcoe.

As the North Huron 13, 13,'s, ball
team were top team in the county at
the Huron-Perth Field Day at, Mit-
chell on Monday, June 6th, they will
play an all star team at the Federation
picnic at Goderich on Wednesday,
June 15th. Plans were made to hold
weiner roast at the 10th line bridge
in July. Patsy Anderson was in charge
of the games for the remainder of the
evening, and lunch was served.
East Wawanosh Held School Picnic
The annual picnic given by the East
Wawanosh School Board and held at
Westfield School for all the children
in the area was a splendid success.
Ideal weather prevailed. The untiring
efforts of the school board, Abner
Nethery, Roy Pattison, C, H, Wade,
secretary; Laurence Taylor, D. Camp-
bell, A, Nesbit, with the help of the
teachers deserve much credit for the
success of the outing. Mr. D, Mansz-
of the Belgrave school was convener
of the Sports programme which result-
ed as follows:

Master Carl McClenaghan spent the
week-end at the home of his sister,
Mrs. Bill Parker of London.
Mrs. Gowsell of Kenora, Mr. and
Mrs. Bailey of Scotland near Brent-
ford, and her daughters, Mrs. Clarke
of Scotland and Mrs. King of Water-
ford, spent the week-end at the home
of the former's sister, Mrs. Robt. Mc-
Clenaghan, 'and with relatives at
Guelph and Elora, Mrs. Gowsell had
been attending her son's graduation

In a softball game played under the
lights in Wingham Saturday night,,
Bel-grave received their first defeat of
the season from Stone School with a
score 14-6.
MT. and Mrs. Jack Wilson and fam-
ily, left on Friday for their summer
home at Port Rowan and Mr. and
Mrs, Hopper opened for business on
Thursday.
Mr. William Kelly has purchased
the home Mr. Harry McGuire.
Two new homes are being erected
in Belgrave, one for Lyle Hopper
and one for Ralph McCrea.
• Mr. and Mrs. John E, McCallum
visited their daughter in London.
While there Mr. McCallum went to
Detroit to 'see a ball game.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Taylor and
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Smith of Brussels
are enjoying a trip to the North this
week. They will visit the Manitoulin
Islands, Sudbury and other points,
Mr. Lawrence Vannan and Mr. Geo,
Sargeant are spending a few days in
Toronto,
Mr, and Mrs, C. N. Wade, Mrs, W.
G. Cruickshank, Mrs, McGill and Mrs.
Fairservice of Clinton, attended the
funeral of the late Andrew Anderson,
a farmer resident of Belgrave, in Lon-
don on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rath and
family and Miss Marjorie MaeKen40,
spent Saturday in Stratford and Brant-
ford.
Mrs. O. G, Anderson was in Tor-
onto attending a Board meeting of the
Medical services. '
• Mrs. R, J. MacKenzie attended the
London Free Press Centennial banquet
held in the London Arena on Satur-
day.
Mrs. Isabella Young of Lambeth,
visited with Mr, and Mrs, J. McBur-
ney.
Mrs. Bonder of Blyth, is visiting
with Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Stone-
house,
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Purdon at-
tended the Air Force Day at Clinton
and Centralia.
Mr. and Mrs, Geo. Sargent and
Mrs, C. Sargent of Pewtucket, Rhode
Island, are visiting with Mrs. Sar-
gent's mother- Mrs. A, M. Perdue.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Nethery and
Miss Norma Nethery of Hamilton.

Anniversary services will be held in
Brick United Church-on Sunday, June
19th, when Rev. U. E. Cronhielm of
Wroxeter will be the guest speaker.
The Belgrave choir will have charge
of the music. Services are at 11 a,m.
and at 8 p.m. The service at Belgrave
United Church will be withdrawn.
Women's Institute
The Women's Institute will be held
at the home of Mrs. C. H. Wade on
Tuesday, June 21, at 2.30 p.m. Mrs.
Wellings and Mrs. Wade are the con-
veners. Mrs. Edgar Wightman will
give the address and Mrs, Moores and
Mrs. Procter will sing a duet, Mrs.
Cruickshank will conduct a quiz. A
demonstration on table setting will be
given by Mrs. Vannan and Mrs. Wel-
lings. The roll call will be answered
by one thing a good hostess would do.
The refreshment 'committee is Mrs.
C, R. Coultes, Mrs. H. Wheeler and
Mrs. N. Walsh.
Bride and Groom Hooured
A party was held in the Forester's
Hall, Belgrave, in honour of Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Cantelon (nee Ruth Mc-
Guir9). The hall was decorated with
peonies and orange blossoms. McDow-
ell's orchestra supplied the music for
dancing, Mr. Norman Keating made
the presentation of a sum of money to
the bride and groom.
Junior Farmers Meeting.
The regular monthly meeting of the
North Huron B.B.'s. Jr. Farmers was
held on Thursday evening, June 9th.
in the Forester's Hall, Belgrave, with
the usual attendance of around seven-
ty. Before the meeting the Jr's. gather-
ed in the ball park and played a rous-
ing game of ball. After the ball game
everyone went to the hall and the bus-
