Women's Auxiliary
St. Stephen's W. A. held their regular-
meeting at the home of Mrs. Ernest
King on Thursday with an attendance
of nineteen. Piecing quilt blocks pre-
ceded the devotional and business
meeting at which the president, Mrs.
N. Wade presided. Interesting reports
were given by Mrs. Geo. King, Mrs.
H. V. Holmes and Mrs. N. Wade of
the Huron Diocesan Annual W. A.
meeting in London at which there was
a record attendance and the largest

MacLean reading the 93rd. psalm.

the next regular meeting. The meeting
closed while the hymn The Day Thou

Provincial W. I. Conference
About six hundred presidents and
secretaries of the Federated Women's
Institutes of Ontario gathered at the
Ontario Agricultural College, Guelph,
for the first provincial conference in
he organizations history, A guest
speaker was Miss Mary L. Collings,
;Washington, the superintendent Miss
Anna. P. Lewis• said there were 44,150
women in Ontario enrolled in Wom-
• en's Instittue work, compared with
38,600 in 1948. Fifty-four new branch-
es were organized during the past
year. Twelve out of thirteen areas
and eighty-four out of one hundred
districts were represented at the Con-
ference which 'opened on Wednesday
evening with a reception. A donation
of 55000 towards the W. I. scholar-
ship Fund was made by Miss Kathar-
ine McCallum of Perth County. The
scholarship Fund is used to provide
course for rural girls at MacDonald
Institute. Attending the Conference on
Friday from Wroxeter Branch were:
