W i Mrs. Ales Edgar Sr.. passed away in Wingham General Hospital, on Saturday, April 2nd,, where she was !taken a week previous, after a fall when she broke her hip, She was laid to rest on Tuesday afternonon, April 5th., in the Gorrie cemetery. Private service was held at the home of Gladstone Edgar, con, 8, lot 9, Howick Township, followed by a public service in the Gorrie United Church which was largely attended by relatives, friends and neighbors, Rev. G. C. Howse conducted the service, She was a life member of the \V. M, S. of the .Gorrie United Church, and an active worker until her health failed her some ..few years ago. Mrs. Edgar was horn on Nov, 18th, 1864, in Grey Township, a daughter of the late Mr. and ,Mrs. Jas. McNair of Grey Township. Mrs.` Manfred Irvin has been confined to bed for some time but is improving. • Mr. David Neilson. has been in the Wingham General Hospital since Fri- day night, Mrs. Neilson is also ill at the home of her son, John, in Listowel. Miss Lois Dodds was home , from Brussels for the week-end. Mr. John Robinson haas been a patient in the Wingham Hospital since Saturday. Friends are hoping for a speedy recovery. Mrs, F. Grainger and daughter, Mrs. S. Workman aand baby, Lynn, of Brussels, visited with the former's sis- ters, Mrs. W. C. King and Mrs. Ken Hastie on Wednesday, Mr Carl Harris of Colonsay, Sask., 'was a recent visitor at the home of Mr. aand Mrs. Sanford Zimmerman. Mr. Harris is also visiting his brother Mr. Arthur Harris at Ottawa. Robert Gibson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Gibson, Listowel, formerly of Fordwich, was winner of a scholarship I lit the Stratford Music Festival, also two first prize; in the violin classes. Mr. and Mrs.- Eart.Baker and sons, Bobbie and Billie, were honoured by friends in Fordwich on Friday even- ,ing, with a social ,gathering in the 'community hall. Friends here will be sorry to learn that Mr. John Hill, con. 12, east met with a serious accident recently while pruning an apple tree. His wrist was slaShed with the axe and the arteries severed. He was a patient in Listowel hospital for several days but is -now at home. Mrs. Hill (nee Mary Viftie) is ill with flu, Bill Heibein is to report for duty in the navy on April 15th, aCLondon, and will leave later for Halifax, Mr. and Mrsr Geo, Baker, Fordwich, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Geo, Fos- ter in Elmira on Saturday and Sun- day.
