One of the pleasant -events of the
season 'was held in the United Church
School-room on Thursday evening,
when' members of the local Women's
Institute, their husbands and friends,
numbering about 70 enjoyed a banquet
and social evening. African Violets in
gold colored containers, the two W. I,
,colors, were attractively arranged,
while the favors were small baskets
in the gay colors of the Easter season,
President, Mrs, H, V. McKenney pre-
sided and following the dinkier the
following programme was carried out..
Toast to the King proposed by the
Chairman, Reading, Mrs. John Lone,
Toast to the ,Chureh proposed by Mrs,
Frank Sanderson, Rev, U. E Cron-
bielm replying, Piano solo, Mrs. Lyle
Brothers, Mr. J. H. Wylie proposed
a toast to the Institute, to which Mrs.
Allen Munro replied, Mrs. Ira Mac-
Lean favoured with a comic reading;
Mrs. Gilbert Howes gave the address
of the evening and the subject New

Mrs. A. McMichael
Early Friday morning; at Wingham
General Hospital, there entered into
rest, a lifelong and deeply beloved
citizen of Wroxeter, in the person of
Mrs. Archie McMichael, following a
week's illness.
Mary Elizabeth Harris was born
on the 4th line, Turnberry in 1877. In
1903 she was united in marriage with
Archie McMichael, who predeceased
her six years ago. Their only daughter,
M any Frances, wife of Graham Camp-
bell, died in 1931, Mrs. McMichael is
survived by two brothers, • joint with
whom. she resided, George H. of Sask-
atoon, Sask., also a grandson Harris
Campbell. Fo‘ur brothers, William
Hugh, Robert and Norman predeceas-

The Young People's Society of the
United Church,' have been invited to
present their play, "The Blue Bag"
on Thursday next at Gorrier Friday
at Whitechureh; Brittain on the 12th
of April and Fordwich the 14th. Last
Friday night the Play was presented
at Ethel to a full house, following the
play the Caste were entertained at the
home of Mrs. Cunningham, mother of
Robert Cunningham of Wroxeter, who,
was a member of the caste,
Mr, Lloyd Felker returned from
Toronto on Friday, where he has been
in the hospital undergoing medical
treatment. His many friends hope he
will soon be. restored to his usual good
health.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sullivan and
children, Tommy and Penny Marie,
of London, were week-end guests of
;Nlr. and Mrs. Lyle Brothers.
Mrs. Logan of Beamsville is visiting
her brother, Mr. W. A. Sawtell and
Miss Helen Sawtell.

ed the funeral service on Saturday for
the late Mr. John Wart-ell of Ford-
wich, formerly of Howick Township.

! ; arrived home last week after an en-
! 'joyable trip South. They visited with
friends at Long Beach and Los Ang-
eles, It was a surpirse visit for Gor-
don's' brother, Fred, Whom ire hasn't
seen for 25 years and he was not re-
cognized at first. The sunshine of the
South gave the Gibsons a good coat
of tan.
Sunday School Re-opens April 10th
Sunday School will reopen at Salem
on Sunday next, at 1,30 o'clock. A
good attendance is hoped for.
Women's Missionary, Society
The April meeting. of the W.M.S.
of the United Church will meet in the
church parlors on Friday, April 8th,
at 3 p.m. Theme, Now in the place,
where he was, there was a garden.
Mrs, H. Timm and Mrs. H. Hamilton
are in charge of the Devotional period.
Mrs. Frank Sanderson will be a guest
and give an address on Stewardship.
The Roll Call, A Responsibility ,of a
W.M.S. Member. All women are cord-
ially invited to the monthly meeting

Young People's Union
President Pete Dobson was in
charge of the weekly meeting of the
Young People's Unionon Monday
night, It was arranged by the Mis-
sions convener, Lyle Plah. In Christ
there is no East or West, was the
opening hymn. Lyle Hart chose the
scripture lesson from St. Luke, Ch.
10, followed by the Lord's Prayer,-
During the business period it was re-
ported almost $110.00 total receipts
from the recent play "The Blue Bag."
Several invitations to present this play
have been received. Miss Gilbert!
Howes, Fellowship Convener, will be
in charge of the next meeting. Lead
Kindly Light was the second hymn
sung. Bill Hart spoke, on the work
done by Rev. Owen for the topic on
Missions. The hymn, Lead On,' 0
King Eternal and the Mizpah Benedic-
tion brought the meeting to a close.
U. Church Receives New Members
Following the regular morning ser-
vice in Wroxeter United Church, tire
Sacrament of the Lord's Supper was
observed, when the following were

United Church in charge. Gifts of
beautiful flowers were a silent tribute
to one who Was loved and respected
by all who were privileged to know
her. Pallbearers were George and
Hugh Harris, Harvey McMichael,
Wesley Paulin, John MacLean and
Russel Rae. Flower bearers, Leslie
Harris, Ronald and Andrew McMic-
hael, George Paulin. Interment was
maade in the family plot, Wroxeter
cemetery.
Mr. Carl L. Harris of Colonsay,
Sask„ spent a few days at 'the home
of his ''cousin, Bert and Mrs. Harris,
R.R.1, WrOxeler, while on his way to
Ottawa, Ontario, where he will be the
guest of his brother, Mr.-Arthur •Har-
ris.
Mr. and' Mrs. Ray Draper and infant
daughter, Leeann, also Mr. and Mrs.
Len, .Draper, all of Toronto, were

Hospital, Toronto for a week. While
