Christmas Meeting and Election
Of Officers
The Evening Auxiliary of the Un-
ited Choreh. held their Christmas meet-
ing at the home of Mrs, A. W, Irwin,
on Wednesday evening with a splen-
did attendance. Mrs, K, M. MacLew,
nan was in charge of the program, and
conducted a fine worship service cons
sisting of Christmas Carols, the scrip-
ture reading by Mrs, E. L. Stuckey
and a Candle-Lighting ceremony,
Those assisting in this were, Mrs, H.
Carmichael, Miss C, Wellwood, Mrs,
F, Hopper, Mrs, J. Hamilton and Mrs.
D. Miller.
A Christmas story read by Miss
Phyllis Johns was ninth enjoyed,
Mrs, E. Shera sang the beautiful
Christmas solo, "Low in a Manger."
Mrs. J. Reavie conducted the busi-
ness and reports were given, Miss
Phyllis Johns read a short temperance
story and Mrs. G. .W Tiffin gave
the report of the nominating com-
mittee.

The usual Christmas services will
be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church.
At 11.30 p.m. Christmas Eve there
will be a service of Holy Communion
and a brief Christmas message. Again,
on Christmas Day at 10.30 a.m,, there
wil be another service of Holy Com-

The regular meeting of the Goforth
Evening Auxiliary was held on Wed-
nesday evening, December 15th, at the
home of Mrs. Norman Welwood. The
president, Mrs, Carl Deans presided,
and ofkned the meeting with the Call
to Worship, followed by the singing
of the hymn, "Oh, Little Town. of
Bethlehem."
Mrs. Norman Welwood led in
prayer and Mrs, Stewart Scott gave
the scripture reading taken from the
20th chapter of Matthew, verses 1-16.
Meditation was given by Miss Edna
Carr. The minutes of the previous
meeting were read and adopted fol-
lowed by the roll call. The business
of the meeting was • discussed and
A dealt with. The offering was received
• and - the Dedicatory Prayer offered
!by Mrs, R, McIntosh.
Volunteers for the Junior congre-
gation for the month of January were:

ST. HELENS
The St. Helens School presented its
annual Christmas concert in the Com-
unity Hall to a large audience on Fri-
day evening. The ball was gay with
Christmas trees and festive decora-
tions for the occasion which was un-
der the direction of the teachers, Miss
Beatrice McQuillin and Mr. Graham
McDonald, and the Music Supervisor,
Mr. Sheldon Boater, of Goderich.
Rev. H, M, Newton was chairman
for the program which included chor-
uses by . the whole school, two and
three-part choruses and a series of
ithree rounds, pialm duets, by ,Isabell
!McPherson and Anne Todd, and Lois
1 Webb and Flora Jean McQuillin; an
operetta "The Heart of Gold"; a nur-
sery rhymn Drill, a Sailor Drill and
European Folk Dance. An exhibition
l of physical training. by the boys; dia-
logues entitled "Christmas Five at
Home" and the Christmas Fantasy
and "Land of Plenty"; Highland Fling,
by Isabella McPherson and Flora Jean
McQuillin. The' pageant, "Christmas
Pictures" depicting the beautiful Christ
mas Story with Ruth Webb as narrat-
or brought the splendid program to a
close. At the conclusion, „Santa
Claus appeared and presented 'giftS
from.the well laden tree.
