SyMpathy is extended to Mrs, Win.
Lynn, whose sister, Mrs. Ford Sothern
of Harriston passed away in a Toron-
to Hospital on Sunday morning fol-
lowing an illness of four weeks, Mrs,
Sotliern is the former Edith I3unston
of Fordwich, and was known in Hi:M-
ick. Funeral service will be held Tups
day afternoon at Harriston and inter-
ment will be in the Fordwieh cetne-
tery,
Mrs. Luella Sanderson opened her
home on Friday evening for the an-
nual meeting of the Girls' W. A, Offi-
cers were re-elected as follows: Pres.,
Edith Dinsmore; Secretary, Beryl Ben
nett; Treasurer, Marion King; Pianist,
Erla Newton; Advisers, Mrs. J. Caley,
Mrs, W. C. King. There was a good
attendance and an enjoyable evening
was spent singing Christmas carols
and with contests, readings and a short
talk by the rector, Lunch was served
by the hostess.

days last week in 'Lucknow with her

Huron County Purchases Pioneer
Museum
Last Tuesday the Property Corn.
of Huron County Council visited Mr.
J: H. Neill's 600 piece Pioneer Mus-
eum and after seeing the trailers of
exhibits of articles used in pioneer
days purchased them. Just where it
will be permanently located is not yet
known. Mr. Neill has just received
two tuning forks A and C from Aber-
deen, Scotland, they were invented in
1717 by John. Shore, Sergeant Trum-
peter, and Geo. I of England. They
were used in starting the singing be-
fore organs were used in churches.
Mr. Neill will be the caretaker and
he feels sure that this can be made a
8000 piece Muieum in five years, the
best pioneer museum in Canada.
United Church
The W. A. of the 'United Church are
holding their Christmas and annual
meeting ,at the home of Mrs. Hilton
Ashton on Thurs., Dec. 16th at 2.15
p.m. A good attendance is hOped for.
Next Sunday morning the Christ-
mas service will be held in the United
Church. The C.G.I.T. are having a
Vesper service in the evening at 8 p.m.

Women's Auxiliary
The annual meeting of St. Stephens
W A. was held on Friday at the home
of Mrs. Norman Wade with a fine at-
tendance. The president, Mrs. H. V.
Holmes, opened the meeting with sing-
ing of the hymn "Jesus shall reign
whereter the sun" and with prayers.
Roll call was answered' with a Christ-
mas gift to the W. A. and a verse re-
ferring to the birth of the oviour. The
secretary-treasurer, Mrs, Geo, King,
gave an encouraging financial report
for the year. The Christmas story
from Luke was read by Mrs. W. C.
King. The hymh "Go labor on" was
sung and Rev. J, C. Caley gave a fine
address on the birth of Jesus and took
the chair for the election of officers,
Mrs, Holmes, who has been the very
efficient president for the past thirteen
years wished to retire owing to ill
health, The folloWing officers were
elected for 1949; Hon, Pres., Mrs. J.
C. Caley, Mrs, H. V. Holmes; Pres.,
Mrs, Norman Wade; 1st Vice Pres,
Mrs. Ernest King; 2nd Vite Pres.:

The Christmas concert for the Unit-
ed Church S. S. will be held on Mon-
day, Dec. 20, and for the Presbyterian
S. S. on Dec. 21.
Miss Grace Moir spent the week-end
with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon McInnis

evening for a surprise visit with them
before they left on Saturday to spend
the winter months at the home of his
brother, Mr. Jas. Craig, of Vancouver,

a purse. All joined in playing euchre,
