Don Irwin had the misfortune to
have two fingers of his right hand
broken and also badly bruised on
Thursday while working with the
bridge gang at Kincardine. -
Friends will be glad to know that
Mrs. Emma Mastic, who has been
confined to bed for the last two weeks
is improving.
Mrs. Thos. Lovell and Mr. Stewart
Lovell visited the former's brother,
Mr, Duncan McKercher on Sunday.
We welcome Mr, and Mrs, Burns
Stewart and Ed., to the village. They
moved last week to the residence they
purchased from Mrs. R. H. Stephens.
Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Taylor spent
the week-end with Miss Beatrice and
Mr. Thos. Shearer of Wroxeter,
Mr, and Mrs. Clarence Wade and
Tom, of Belgrave, visited at the home
ofw Mr. and Mrs. Norman Wade on
Sunday,
Mr, and Mrs. Nelson Underwood
from near Wingham, . were guests of
Mr. and Mrs. W. C, King on Sunday,
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ferguson and
Donna, 16th, con., spent the week-end
with friends in Woodstock.
Mrs. E, Pyke visited Mr, and Mrs.
Carl Newton, 10th con, for several
days last week.

W. I. -District Conference
Mrs. Clarence Hayes of George-
town, will be the speaker for the Dis-
trict Conference on "Developing
Community Enterprises" which will
be held in Trinity Church, Fordwich,
at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, November
3rd. Ladies of Gorrie, Fordwich and
Wroxeter are invited to attend. Mrs.
Hayes is a favorite speaker and the
subject should be of interest to many.
Women's Auxiliary
Mrs. John Dinsmore opened her
home on Friday afternoon - for the
meeting of the W.A. The ladies sewed
on quilt blocks, The President, Mrs.
H. V. Holmes ;resided for the devot-
ional period, opening with prayers.
Mrs. Frank King read a psalm. and
Mrs. Norman Wade read "Thoughts
on Thanksgiving" that being the
theme for the clay. The roll call was
answered with a verse On. "Thanks-
giving." Sixteen members and two
visitors were present. A dainty lunch
was served by the hostess.

The Homemaking Club sponsored
by the Gorrie Women's Institute held
its first meeting at the home of Mrs,
Carl Gregg on Sat., Oct, 23. This
course is open to girls between the
ages of 12 and 26. Any girls who are
interested would be made welcome at
the next meeting, to be held at gpan„
Sat. Oct. 30 at the same home, The
Unit is making sleeping garments, led
by Mrs. Harold Edgar and Mrs. Cecil
Wilson, Officers were elected and
materials and patterns discussed, Roll
call for next meeting will be a name
for the club.
New Bridge Nearing Completion
Gorrie's fine new bridge over the
Maitland, which is replacing the one
washed out by the spring floods is
nearing completion. A meeting waS
called on Monday night to make plans
for a formal opening, sometime next
week. A definite date has not been set
as yet but watch for further partio,
ulars.
