Nile, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Will Alton. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford
Hackett and baby, visited recently at
Mr. Will Hunter's, Zion, Mrs. Darrow
of Lucknow, visited last week with
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Irwin.
Salem—Messrs. Dick Bennett and
Jack Fortune have gone to attend
Stratford Normal School. Mr. Wm.
Weir has returned after visiting in
Torontto and Pittsburg. Mr. and Mrs.
Ernie Thomas and family attended the
Fair at Clifford last Thursday. Miss
Lyda Willits of Wingham, spent Sun-
day with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Melvin Willits.

Campbell, also Mr. and Mrs. Alex
Campbell spent last Sunday at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Robtert Coch-
rane of Brussels. Mr. and Mrs. J. C.

of a pretty wedding on Monday, Sept,
18th, when Rev. Mr. Robinson offic-
iated at the marriage of Verna May,
eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thos,
Irwin, of East Wawanosh, to Mr.
Robe John Wilson, son of Mr. and
Mrs, R. Wilson of Toronto,
Mundy Smith—The marriage of
Ruth Madeline, only daughter of Mrs.
Jane E. Smith of Woodstock, to Basil,
second son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Mundy of Wingham, took place at her
home, Wellington Street north, on
Monday, September 18th. Rev. E. C.
Smith of Wingham officiated.
Kerr - Johnston—The marriage of
Wilma Scott, (laughter of Mr. and
Mrs, Adam Johnston, to Joseph Ed-
ward Kerr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo,
Kerr, East Wawanosh, took place in
London, on Wednesday, September
27th, with Rev. Mr. Lowe officiating.
Dedication of New Masonic Hall—
The dedication of the new Masonic
Hall, took place last Thursday, Sept-
ember 28th, with the Most 'Worshipful
Grand Master s F. A. Copus of Strat-
ford, officiating at the ceremony which
about 250 attended. On. July 10th, 1873,
Wingham Lodge, No. 286, A,F. SCA.
M., had its birth and received its char-
ter. Mr. J. E. Tamblyn was the first
Master.
Singles Tourney Splendid Event—
The annual Singles Bowling Tourna-
ment held on the local greens on Wed-
nesday last week was very successful.
There were 34 entries with 19 being
from outside points. The winners were
as follows: Trophy event, 1st, )ack
Mason; 2nd., Art Wilson. Association,
1st„ A, M, Crawford; 2nd., 0 Itab-
kirk; runners-up, Wally Miller and
Ed Nash. Consolation event-1st., G.
Hofforth, •Hanover; 2nd., Ed. Mason,
Goderich; 3rd., J. McVicar, Goderich;
4th, Andrew Taylor, Wingham.
Gorrie—Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Ed-
gar have purchased the residence of
the late Mrs. Sperling. Mr, and Mrs,
D. Jewitt, and Miss Cora, of Bluevale,
were recent guests of R. S. and Mrs.
Clegg. Mr. and Mrs. Frank King were
in Listowel on Wednesday, Mr. and
Mrs. John Hueston were Toronto vis-
itors a couple of days last week. Mr.
and Mrs. Bert Cook left on Monday
for Winnipeg where they will spend
their vacation.
Wroxeter--Mr. and Mrs. A. Mea-
hen visited in Listowel on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. 1'. G. Hemphill, also
Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Allen were Dash-
wood visitors on Friday Mrs. Alex
Gibson of Howick spent Sunday at the
home of Mr. G. A. Wearring. Mr.
Laurie VanVelsor returned from Mid-
land where he has spent a few days.
'Mr. D. S. MacNaughton made a busi-
ness trip to Toronto on Tuesday last.
Mr. Ted Hucks returned from his
vacation on Monday. .
East Wawanosh—Messrs. Gilbert
Beecroft and Geo. Taylor, Mrs. Wight-
man and Miss Beatrice Beecroft and
Jessie Finlayson, took in the Young
People's Convention in Stratford on
Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Ireland and
family from near Teeswater; visited at
Sam McBurney's on Sunday. Mr. and
Mrs. Gregg Shiell entertained their
friends and neighbours to a dance on
Monday evening. Mrs. Norman
Thompson of Donnybrook, spent the
week-end at Frank .Thompson's.
Canada Importing Butter
Trade Minister Howe stated last
week that Canada has completed neg-
otiations with Denmark and New Zeal-
and for the importation of some
9,000,000 pounds of butter.

Win N.W,B.A.—Wingham had no
difficulty in defeating Owen Sound by
a score of 8 to 5, in Chesley en Sat-
urday in the play-off game for the
championship of the senior North Wel-
lington Baseball Association. Teeswat-
er and Lucknow are equally proud of
the win and they equally share the
honors with Wingham, for the team
was composed of three players from
each town, Messrs. Robinson, Dena-
hue and McDonald are Teeswater
boys, and Messrs. Irwin, Johnstone
and Hall come from Lucknow. 17he

Joins Order at 79—.About seventy
members of the Orange Order vole
present at a special meeting in the
Wingham Hall, on Friday evenimee
when six candidates were ;ititieted in-
tu the mysteries of the, order. Those
initiated were: Rev. C. E. Cragg, Mr.
H. L. Sherbondy, Dr. D. II Mauves,
Wingliam; Rev Geo. Barnard, Ford-
wick, Mr. Geo. Kerr, E. Wawanosh;
and Mr. Fraser Imrie, of Morris. The
latter gentleman has passed his 79th
milestone.
Banquet Baseball Boys—The Lions'
Club held their regular luncheon on
Friday evening, and had as their
guests the officers and players of the
Wingham Baseball Club, Dr. Brown
of Brockville was present, and gave
a most appropriate address, and short
'addresses were also given by Dr. Fox,
E. Pettigrew, D. Holmes, W. J. Greer,
'Mayor Elliott, G. L. Brackenbury and
N. M. Geddes. A. G. Smith had charge
of the program while J W. Hanna act-
ed as chief Lion in the absence of T.

First Fall Crib Tournament—A
cribbage tournament was held in the
Armouries on Friday evening under
the auspices of the local branch of
the Canadian Legion. The winners'

Williamson and Dr. G. W. Howson.
