Old neighbours from the 2nd, of
Kinloss and relatives gathered on
Thursday evening last at the home of

Wawanosh and surprised them on
their fortieth wedding annice!aary..
The eveniub was spent in cards end
social chat, and lunch was 'served.
Among the gifts they received WW3 a
large square mirror and blanket, the
family had surprised them previously
with a new ccal,lk suave, Their mill),
friends in this community extend best
wishes - for many more such happy oc-
casions.
Miss Betty Dicker of Glencoe, and
Mr. Irwin MeClenagban of St. Thomas
spent Sunday with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Ben MeClenaghaa.
Mr. Scott Paterson of Detroit, and
his father, Mr. F. McK. Paterson,
spent the week-end in Toronto,
Don't forget the dance in the Mem-
orial Hall this Friday evening under
the auspices of the Memorial Hall
Committee, Farrier's Orcliesth will
provide music.
Mrs. Roddy Inglis and little son,
returned from Wingham Hospital on
Thursday last and visited for a few
days at the home of Mr, and Mrs,
Robt, Adams.
Mr. and Mrs, Sidney Somers of
Harrisville, near Flint, Mich., spent
the week-end at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Dawson Craig and will spend
this week visiting with Robertson and
Yuill relatives, Mr, and Mrs. Bob
Hall, Wingham, spent Sunday there,
and all spent Sunday at Goderich at
the lake,
Mr. and Mrs, Win. Underwood of
Toronto, spent last week-end with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jas, McIlrath.
'Tice W.M.S. of the Presbyterian
Church will meet this Thursday af-
ternoon at the Manse.
Mrs. Laura Creighton, Mr. and Mrs,
Francis Creighton and daughters, Gail
and Andrea of Detroit, visited for a
few days last week with the former's
mother, Mrs. Andrew Kirk, at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. J, D. Beecroft.
Mrs, Abram of London, spent a
few days last week at the home of
M. and Mrs. Gordon Elliott and spent
the week-end at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Albert Walters of Cuirass,
Mr. and Mrs. Milton McVittie of
Flint, Mich., spent the week-end at
the home of her brother, Mr. Gordon
Elliott.
Mrs, \V, R. Farrier spent a few days
last week at Kincardine with Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Gillespie and with Mr. and
Mrs. Clifford Farrier.
The Male Quartette of the Presby-
terian Church were at Belmore on
Sunday where they provided the mus-
ical numbers for the morning and
evening services at the Anniversary in
the Presbyterian Church there. Mrs.
John McGee was accompanist at the

Mr. Joe Thompson of Langton, call-
ed on the Robinson relatives in East
Wawanosh on Sunday.
Forester golden Wedding"
Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Fore'ter of West -
WaWanoslx celebrated. the fiftieth An-
niversary of their wedding at their
home on Tuesday last. Formerly Miss
Elizabeth McDougall of Lucknow,
they were married at the home of her
sister, Mrs, Fred MacDonald, by" the
Presbyterian Minister in * Lucknow,
and have made their home for the fifty
years on the farm on the 13th of wa.,
wanosh, They have five sons, Will
of \V, Wawanosh, Cecil of Palmerston,
Walter of Ripley, Ronald of Lucknow
and Joe of Winnipeg, who was home
in July, and one daughter, Mrs. Alex
Robertson, (Jean of East Wawanosh,
and one son .was killed when lie was
kicked by a horse, when he was four
years old, and they have sixteen grand-
children, Guests were present from
Guelph, and. Paisley and about sixty
pf their old friends and neighbours
were present to wish them many more
happy years together. Among the -gifts
they received was a motor rug, a silver
tea service, book-ends and from the
immediate family, a lazy-boy chair.
All enjoyed the family get together
and social time of chat and luncheon,
The many friends of Mr. and Mrs,
Forester in this district join in ex-
tending best wishes,
Mrs. Robert Mitchelk,of Wingham,
is spending this week with her daugh-
ter, Mrs, Gordon Elliott. •
Mr, and Mrs. Wm, Humphrey and
Mr. and Mrs.. Harold Humphrey and
baby, Barbara of Lucknow, visited on
Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs,
Roy Robinson.
The E. Wawanosh School Area
Trustees closed Shiell's school, No.
11 this year, and one pupil went to
Fordyce School, one to No. 8, E. Wa-
wanosh, and four to No. 0. The schools
in the Area have all been painted on
'the outside, and re-decorated inside,
during the holidays, and most are
wired for hydro now.
Mrs. John Johnston of Goderich
passed away on Sunday after a long
illness and the funeral was held on
Tuesday. Mrs, Clarence Chamney of
E. Wawanosh is an only daughter,
and her many friends will extend sym-
pathy to her in her bereavement.
On Sunday afternoon after the ser-
vice in Donnybrook United Church,
Rev. Arthur Hewitt asked Mr. and
Mrs. Warren Bamford, who were re-
cently married to come to the front
of the, church. Mr. Bert Taylor read
an address and Mr. George Wallace
presented the couple with the gifts

voiced their appreciation of the gifts
of remembrance from Mr, Baniford's
home church. Mrs. Bamford, formerly
Miss Lillian Anderson of Dungannon,
spent last year teaching in England,
when on the Teacher's Exchange, and
Mr. liainfOrd is principal at Preston
High School but 14s always been a
member of Donnybrook church and
choir. His father, Mr. Thos. Bamford,
has been a patient in Victoria Hospi-
tal for the past few weeks with a
heart condition,

a few days last week at the home of

N.Ir. and Mrs. George McClenagban,
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emerson and
Miss Simi Iwamoto, It, N. of Wing-
ham General Hospital, spent Sunday
at Hunter's Beach, Aslifield, with
Miss Joan Allen, R.N. Miss Iwamoto
leaves on Thursday to commence an
eight month's course in the University
Toronto, to secure another degree in
her profession.

'Tuesday were, Mr. and Mrs, Berson
Irwin and son, Billie, Mr. Frank
Thompson, Mr. Harry Deacon, and
Mr. Robert Scott, Mr. 3. G. Gilles.

Wingharn Firemen answered a call
for help to put out a chimney fire at
the home of Mr, Henry Pattison, E,
Wawanosh, on Monday evening, The
fire had 'lacer' presumably put out for
some time, and then flared up again.
Miss Jessie Gillespie left last week
