Gorrie, September 4th, 1948
The Council met in the Clerk's
Office according to adjournment, the
Reeve, John Winte4 in the chair. All
members present. The minutes of the
last regular meeting were read and
on motion of McCallum and Zurbrigg
were adopted as read. Carried.
Moved by Strong and Zurbrigg that
Leslie Shoemaker make necessary re-
pairs on Branch D. of drain No. 10.
Carried.
Moved by Zurbrigg and Gowdy that
we give the Clifford Fall Fair a grant
of $20.00 for the year 1948. Carried.
Moved by Strong and McCallum
that By-law No, 6 of the Township of
Howick for the year 1948 as read the
third time be finally passed. Carried,
Moved by Gowdy and McCallum
that we accept the tender of the Mount
Forest Construction Co, for cutting
new channel at the McCallum bridge.

St. James Anglican Church and
members of all Christian Denomina-
tions joined on Sunday in expressions
of sympathy and regret over the death
of Archbishop Seeger, who died last
week. The body lay in state in St,
Paul's Cathedral, London, Ont., when
funeral services were held at 3 p.m.,
Monday. In attendance were six Bish-

Nile, Brucefield, at the 43rd. Anniver-
sary of the the forming of the W.M.S.
at Westfield. The guest speaker was'
(Rev.) Robt. Longley, of Tor-
onto, a former Westfield resident and
who was for many years a Missionary
in Chita, Mrs. Wm, MeVittier presi-
dent of the W.M.S. Was in charge of
the meeting, which opened with quiet
music, with Winnifred Campbell at
the organ, and the reading of a ieNV
verses of a Psalm, read by ,Mrs. Me-
Vittie, who also led ill pra,yer.

Mrs. (km) Moore and Mrs. Nichol-
