the Exhibition.

onto, spent the week-end at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Taylor,

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Reed of Luckuow,

and Sharon, of Waterford, spent the
week-end with his parents, Mr. and

Miss Grace Moir of Toronto, come
menced the fall teaching term in S, S,
No, 9, Kinloss, on Tuesday.
Mr, and Mrs. Cameron Simmons
and Nancy of London, spent the week-
end with her parents, Mr, and Mrs,
Charles Martin, and Miss Louise Mar-
tin of Kincardine, also spent the week-
end there.
A marriage of interest was solemn-
ized at the Presbyterian Manse here
on Saturday, at 2.30 p,m., when R(v.
W. S. Sutherland united in marriage,
Miss Mary Margaret Corinne Mc-
Lean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Percy
McLean of Belgrave, and Mr, William
Arthur Lediet, son of Mr. and Mrs.
5, D. ,Lediet, of Wingham. The at-
tendants were his sister, Miss Eva
Lediet and Mr. Kenneth Simmons,
both of Wingham. The happy couple
will make their home in Wingham.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ross of Lon-
don, spent the week-end at the home
of 'his parents ,Mr. gild Mrs. R. 5.

and his grandson,Mr. Harold Gaunt
of Toronto, visited on Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Gaunt,
Mr. and Mrs. David Currie and
Miss Leah Currie of Wingham, and
Mr. and Mrs. Eire Elliott and dauglf-
ters, Sharon and June, who spent
August at Bruce Beach, visited on
Wednesday at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Russell Gaunt, before Mr. and
Mrs. Elliott left for their home in
Ottawa.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Currie spent
a few days this week at Torontto Ex-
hibition.
Mr. Miles MacMillan left on.Satur-
day for his farm in Sasketchewan.
Mrs. J. A. Kennedy of Sarnia and
Mr. Bert Kennedy and family of Tor-
onto, visited over the week-end with
Currie relatives, and a family gather-
ing was held at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Lance Grain on Sunday, for a
get-together.
Mrs. MacDonald and her daughter,
Mrs, DickLatham and little daughter,
Ann, all of Tetosky, Mich., spent a
few days last week at the home of the
former's niece, Mrs. Gershom John-
ston of E. Wawanosh. Mr. and Mrs.
Gershom Johnston and Mrs. Ted
Robinson and Jimmie, visited last
Friday at the home of their (laughter,
Mrs. Stewart Smith of Kitchener.
Mr, Stewart Scott of Peterborough,
spent the week-end with Conn rela-
tives and Craig and Helen, who had
spent the summer months here, re-
turned' home with their father,
Mrs. Irene Paterson and Helen, of
Toronto, spent the week-end with her
mother, Mrs, Wm. Taylor.
Mr, and Mrs. Alex Nethery of Ham-
ilton, spent the week-end with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herson Irwin,
Miss Eileen Snell of London, spent
the week-end with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Stanley Snell.

High School pupils, who went with
Mr. W. H. French to Toronto' Ex-

and Mr. Kenneth Ross of Rockeliffe,
Ottawa, spent the week-end at their
home.
Miss Faye McClenaghan of LondOn,
spent the week-end with her parents,

Ivan visitedover the week-end with
relatives at Powasson. Mrs. Robt,
Purdon and three children, who had
been visiting with her mother, Mrs,
Annie Henderson, during the past
week, returned to Powasson with
them, and Miss Myrna Stockill, who
had been visiting with her parents
there, returned home to Whitechurch
for the Fall school term,
Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Welwood and
Mrs, Arthur Cronin and Jack and
Mr. Bert Coleman of Caledon, who
were here attending the Gallagher-
Falconer nuptials in Wingham, return-
ed home on Sunday.
Miss Lorinda Sandburn has been a
patient in Wingham General Hospi-
tal for the past five, weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. West of Listowel, Mr.
and Mrs. Lcirne, Johnston and Mr,
and Mrs. Ezra Scholtz spent the week-
end at Tobermory on a fishing expe-
dition.
Rev. and Mrs. J. Ure Stewartand
their daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Christien-
son, and Kenneth and Ronald, of Kit-
chener, who had spent a week at their
cottage at Bruce Beach, visited with
Mrs. Mac Ross and Miss Olive Teriff
on Thursday last, on their way home
to Oxford Centre.
Mr. and Mrs. Percy Webb of Isling-
ton, spent last week with Mr. and Mrs.-
Wm. Dawson.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lott and sons,
Buddy and Bruce of Ayton, spent the
week-end at the home of their parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lott,
Mr. Gordon Rintoul has purchased
the farm from Mr. Albert Stead on the
Wingham Boundary and gets posses-
sion on October 1st.
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Procter,
Dianne and David, and Mr. and Mrs.
Al. Olsen and Gary and Nina Gail of
Detroit, spent the week-end with their
aunt, Mrs. Reuben Tiffin and with
other Tiffin families and relatives,
Mr. and Mrs. Carman Farrier re-
turned to their home at New Toronto
on Sunday and Miss Winnifred Far-
rier returned to her position in Tor-
onto, after spending their holidays
with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.
R. Farrier and with other relatives
here and at Belgrave.
Miss Helen Thompson, R.N., and
District Health Nurse of Windsor,
spent the week-end with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Thompson.
Mr. Walter Scott's farm on the
South East -corner at Langside, has
been recently purchased by Mr. Roy
Huffman.
A representative of the Myers Por-
trait Studio, was in the Memorial
Hall here last Wednesday evening,
when thirty-two groups or separate
pictures were taken of people in this
community.
Mr. Nat Thomson left last week
with his nephew, Mr, Jimmie Steele
of Port Huron, to visit with his bro-
ther, Mr. Ralph Thomson of Graven-
hurst, and with other relatives there.
Miss Florence Beecroft of Toronto,
spent the week-end with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. J, D. Beecroft, and Mr.
Roy McGee of Toronto, spent the
week-end with his father, Mr. Henry
McGee and Gordon.
Mr. Beth Gaunt of Preston, spent

'house, at Lydden, Sask., had been in
the Hospital With infection in her
hand,
The regular meeting of the Young
Adult Group of the United Church
was held on Tuesday evening last,
with Mrs. Jas. Falconer in charge and
taking the meditation. The theme of
the meeting was Spiritual Exploraions.
Mr. Jas. Falconer read the Scripture
lesson and a number of readings were
given concerning what to read, and
choosing the best. Rev. W. J. Watt
gave a short talk on the hymn, "Make
Me a Captive, Lord, and then I shall
be Free." Miss Muriel Watt who left
on Monday to train in Victoria Hospi-
tal, was called to the front and Mrs.
G. E. Farrier read a short address
and Mrs. Albert Coultes presented her
With a hymnary. Miss Watt thanked
them for their thoughtful gift. Mrs.
Farrier and Mrs. Falconer were in
charge of he Recreation Period, and
all enjoyed the corn roast that follow-
ed.
Rev. W. J. Watt, Mrs. Watt and
Donald, spent Sunday at Port Elgin,
where Mr. Watt had charge of the
service at the United Church there,
and they spent the week-end with old
friends there.
Mr. and Mrs. J. P. McLean spent
the week-end with Listowel friends,

taken up residence in the store build-

Mr. Nedill will open a boot and shoe
