Convention held in Guelph last Wed-
nesday and Thursday. Misses Grace

ed the convention. Miss Gregg was
appointed Chairman of the Home-
making Club.
Mr. and Mrs. Murray Hamilton
and son, of Toronto, visited recently
with friends.

David, left last Tuesday for the West.

The September meeting of the Wo-
man's Missionary Society was held in
the Sunday School Room on Thurs-
day evening, Sept. 2nd, Mrs. Whitely
presided at the piano with the open-
ing hymn, "Let Jesus Come Into My
Heart." Mrs. A. Taylor was in charge
of the worship service and led in
prayer, The theme being "Faith,
Whereby the Church Must Live." Joy
to the World was sung, after which
Scripture readings were given by
Mrs. R. Ashton, Mrs. Geo. Brown and
Mrs. Harry Ferguson. Hymn, 0
Master of the 'Waking World, was
sung and Margaret Dane gave a very
interesting presentation of the "Story
of Margaret Li" of West China Mis-
sion, a present day Christian Leader
in the Church of Christ in Szechwan.
The president had charge of the busi-
ness period and the meeting closed
with prayer.
Rev. Miner of Fordwich, will occupy
the .pulpit in the United Church next
Sunday, as Itev Howse is preaching
Anniversary Service at Maine.
Master David Caley has returned
front holidaying at Rodney.
Women's Institute
The September meeting of the Gor-
rie Women's Institute will be held +at
Tuesday, Sept. 14th, at 2.89 p.m., at
the home of Mrs. Cecil Wilson. The
program is in charge of Mrs. A.
Stephens Cititenship Convener, Rev.
J. C. Caley will be guest speaker. Roll
Call, "Suggestions for Local Improve-
ments." Cars will leave Stephen's
store at 2.15 in
