The United Church Sunday School picnic will be held on Thursday of this week to the Seaforth Lions Park, Miss Audrey Bradbutn has returned from Wingham General Hospital after having her tonsils removed. WROXETER Miss. Morley I3oundy of Brantford, spent last week with Miss .Margaret Jardine, Mr. and Mrs. L. F. McLaughlin, Oshawa, spent part of last week with friends here, Mrs. Gavin Davidson, who -has been S. guest of Miss Mae Davidson, returned with them to her home in Oshawa. Mr, Laurie Vanvelsor, Was a recent guest of Mrs. W. R. and Miss Rona Vanvelsor. Miss M. Sardine spent the week-erid with Mrs,' Mae Jackson of Goiric. Mrs, Jackson left thin week to visit her brother and sister-in-law at Park- hill, Mr. and Mrs, Stewart McKercher of Saskatoon, spent part of last week with Mrs, W. S. McKercher, Mr. McKercher, during the past year was appointed a 'judge and is 'cnroute to his home in ,the West from Montreal, where lie attended a convention. Mr. Robert Gibson, who recently suffered a crushed finger, while work- ing in his sawmill was taken to Wing- ham General Hospital last week where it was found necessary to remove part of his finger, Bob's many friendsihope his injury will give no further trouble. Mrs. Frank Sanderson, who is stay- ing with her daughter, Miss Eleanor Sanderson in Toronto, underwent a minor operation in Toronto General Hospital last week. We are pleased to report she is making a good recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Munro and Miss Winnifred Munro returned on Friday from an enjoyable vacation with Cleve- land relatives, Their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Schott returned with them and are visiting the Munro families and other friends. Miss Norma Brandon, Torontd, was a week-end visitor with friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Moffatt and family,'spent the week-end at Goderich Beach. A number from this district attend- ed the Harvest Home Supper in Ford- wich on Thursday night which was sponsored by the Women's Institute in aid of the Community Hall Fund, Malcolm's softball team from Listowel defeated the Fordwich team. The sup- per was of the pre-war variety with an abundance of good things to eat, and plenty left over to sell, at the close, a booth was well patronized. Reeve John Winters on behalf of Howick Council congratulated and encouraged mem- bers of the W. T. and Community Club, on their effort to provide a suit- able place for local entertainment, Mr, Parsons, Station Agent for C, P, R. at Fordwieh, held the lucky ticket on the bicycle, and generously requested it be auctioned for the benefit of the Fund, Auctioneer T, S. Schaefer came to the rescue and the bicycle brought $42,00. Approximately $400.00 was realized by the Women's Institute, will donate the entire proceeds to- wards the Building Fund. Members of the W,I. and the Community Club 'who ably assisted are to be congratu- lated on the success of the evening's entertainment, Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Erie King (nee Esther Adams), who were married on Saturday at the home of the bride's parents, Mrs. Archie MacDonald and dau- ghters, Catharine and Mary, were hon- oured at a picnic arranged by mem- bers of Molesworth Women's Institute at the home of Mrs. Watson Brown. Grace Simpson and Jeananne Doig on behalf of the Community presented gifts to Mary and Catharine. Mrs. MacDonald and daughters are staying with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Mr. Jesse Wheeler, con. 5, Morris, has sold his farm to Mr. Latigridge, just recently arrived from England. They have three grown sons, two already in this country. This makes the fourth' English family to locate in, this neighbourhood. Mr. Wheeler is holding an auction sale on Sept, 115th. A very successful dance was held in Forrester'S Hall, Friday night in spite of the very warm' weather. This was in aid of the Rink Building Fund. Dances are being held regularly every two weeks until December. Rev, W. A. Townsend, former mitt- ister here preached in the telgrave United Church on Sunday.
