Annie Elizabeth Greer of Toronto, in
her 72nd. year. While visiting at the
home of her cousin, grs. Frank.
Rowed, of Benmiller, she was taken
suddenly ill, A daughter of the late
Samuel Greer and Hannah Dane, she
was born on the farm adjoining the
village of .Goreie, now owned by Mr.
,Tack Hutchison. Her father was one
of the earliest settlers in .Howick
Township, The family moved to Tor,-
onto over forty years ago, where she
has since resided. Her husband pre-
deceased her twenty years ago, Sur-
viving are; a foster son, John Berry,
two brothers, Albert and Joseph, all
of Toronto. The late W, J. Greer of
Wingham, was a brother. The body
was removed to Toronto, and funeral
service was held at the Trull Funeral
Home on Monday morning. Interment
was made in the family •plOt in thq
Gorrie cemetery on Monday afternoon.
Victim Of Accident
Carmen Nickle of the 16th con. of
Howick, was critically injured when
his car crashed into a tree between
Mildmay and McIntosh late Friday
night. He was removed to Walkerton
Hospital. A veteran of the last war
he was a prisoner in Germany for
some ,time.

Holmes is recovering slowly from I•er
recent illness.
Swimming Awards Given
Mrs, Lillian MacKellar of London,
Supervisor for Western Ontario, of
the swimming and Water Safety Dept.
of the Ont. Division, Red Cross, was
in Gorrie on Tuesday of last week
when tests were given the three class-
es which Miss Agnes Wearring of
Wroxeter has been conducting fur the
past five weeks. Awards were given
the following Seniors: Jim Wylie, Jim
Allan and Ron, Higgins, Wroxeter.
Intermediates: Betty Zimmerman,
Betty Newton and Diane Cook, Hitch-
' ener; Juniors: Peril Cook, Shirley
Shera and Johnston Parrish.
Quite a number of others besides
the above mentioned have attended
the classes. and received, instructions
in their endeavours to acquire the wat-
- cry art of swimming.
Mr. Thos. Earl, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne
Walker, Jim and Edith, spent Saturday
with Mr. and Mrs, Mervin Walker at
Coldwater.
Car Accident
Mr. and Mrs. Win. Townsend of
Shelborne, while driving between
Harriston and POrdwi ell, were forced
into the ditch by another car. Their
jeep turned over twice. Mr. Towns-
end was thrown out and suffered in-
juries to his hand while Mrs. Towns-
end who remained in the car received
a wrenched hack, X-rays' taken in
Palmerston Hospital showed no brok-
en bones but she received severe ex-
ternal lacerations. The driver of the
other car said a ling got in his eye and
he lost control of the machine which
swerved to the wrong side of the road,
Mrs. Bert Newberry, formerly Mrs.
Tom Robertson of Pay City, Mich., is
visiting Mrs. Geo. Robertson and Mr.
