Boyle There were four of us sitting out on the woodpile behin d, the house the other evening. We smoked and chat- ted for a little while and the night air pressed in on us. Soon the-moon came up over the gable of the house and spread a silvery radiance around the scene, It was one of those perfect nights, with just enough tang to the air to make it sort of interesting, Higgins took his pipe out of his mouth and said, "What would you fel- lows do if you had a thousand dollars. No, let cis suppose you had a million dollars." We joshed hint at first and then it started to soak in a bit and we started to wonder in earnest about how a person would treat a great sum of money like that. Big Ole, who farms up on the side- road, said, "I would have water put in the house and the barn and I would put in the electric power and then I would buy my wife one of those fancy washing machines, where you just put the clothes in and a few minutes later they come out all clean and white." We laughed at that :because Ole has a filially of nine and the washing takes 'op a big line and a lot of Ole's wiles time each week. At the same time it was indicative how Big Ole is at heart. I don't think he could ever compre- hend how much money a million dol- lars actually is. As a matter of fact don't suppose any of us could, DELUXE IN EVERYTHING ----'-:-,-` ,-2 -7,- iZ., .-.-=,, -., ::,,,-- 1....„- 7 ' V / h BUT PRIG EVERY DE U BU iX/i5r.4"\\ Ill I .
