The streets of Gorrie received a
coating of Callcinm Chloride on Sat-
urday which will bring welcome relief
from the dust,
Members of the Ortman, Douglas,
McGrath and Edwards families held
a picnic at the Community Parken
Sunday afternoon,
C.P,R, workmen are building a new
pump house and installing a new elec-
tric pumping system,
Mr, and Mrs. Alex Hyde;. Louise,
.Evelyn, Marjorie and Butch, of Hen-
sall, also Mr. Newton Shaver of Osh-
awa, visted with Mr. and Mrs. Man-
fo'rd Irvin on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Herminston
and son, Murray of, Mount Forest,
spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. E. H.
Strong.
Mr. and Mrs. Roberts of Sifncoe,
spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and

Women's Association
Mrs, Wilfred King was hostess for
the July meeting of the W. A. on
Tjuirsday. The devotional service
opened with the hymn,. "Rescue the
Perishing". After repeating the Lord's
Prayer in unison, the 16th chapter of
Proverbs was read, Mrs. Ashton read
to Church". Mf's. Wellington reported
a very `interesting story "Ask them
for groups 1 and 2 on their successful
Strawberry Party. It was decided that
our August meeting would be a picnic
in the park. The ladies sewed on quilt
patches. Mrs. Wellington gave a syn-
opsis of Chapter 3, and read Chapters
6 and 7 of the Study Book, which is
being read at the meetings. Lunch was
served and a social time_spent.

The' July meeting of the Gorrie W.
I. was held on Wednesday, July 14th,
in the form of a picnic in the Com-
munity Park. The Grandmothers of
the 'community were invited and there
was a good attendance, After a brief
business' session the program was in
charge of Mrs. Fred Hymlman and
Mrs. Harry Ferguson. Current Events
were given by Mrs, C. Wilson. The
Motto "No snow falls lighter than the
snow of age, but none is heavier for it
never melts", was .taken by Mrs. E.
Wellington. Mm, Mel Taylor gave a
report of the AchieVement Day held
at Bayfield. In the last four years our
Institute has sponsored fifteen courses
and we can indeed be proud of our
girls in their work. Erland Gregg has
been awarded a trip to Chicago. Mrs.
gave a reading, Mrs. Wilford King
Stewart and Mrs. E. Wellington each
gave a harmonica solo, also playing for
a community sing song. Each grand-
mother was asked to relate a thrilling
experience of their life time, and a few
very laughable incidents were related,
A. number of relics were on display,
lockets, fwans, etc and some very
dainty aprons with their fine hand-
made lace that was made many years
ago, Mrs. Withro* captured the prize
for being the oldest grandmother pre-
sent. The prize for the youngest went
to Mrs. Frank King. The group had
their picture taken and then sat down
to a delightful picnic supper. The
'weather was perfect and everyone en-
joyed the outing.
Mr. and Mrs. John Gallaher of
Detroit, are spending the week with
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Grainger and
other friends.
Of interest to many in this com-
munity was the marriage at the Brus-
sels Anglican rectory, by Rev. John
Kerr, of Lloyd Wheeler, elder son
of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Wheeler„ to
Helen McCutcheon, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. A. McCutcheon, all of Brus-
sels.

winner of two prizes at The Orange
celebration on Monday in Clinton for
