The viee-president, Miss Emma
Johnston, presided for the grand-
mother's meeting this week, held on
the school grounds, Mrs. Eldred --Nic-
hol gave a report of a meeting held
recently in the interests of cemetery
improvement. The president and vice-
prsident of the were named to
act as members of the board along with
a representatiie from Morris and
T'urnberry township councils and three
other men. A start has been made by
having a weed spray applied and $25
was voted to the fund.
In answer to the roll call Miss
Emma Johnston exhibited a bracelet
which her grandmother had brought
from Ireland 94 years ago. It was
made of bog oak and represented a -
snake. Mrs. Eldred Nichol and Mrs.
Curtis 'gave readings in keeping with
the grandmother's program. Mrs. Jim
Johnston had charge of a question and
answer contest. on household problems.
Miss M. Curtis conducted two contests
The children were awarded balloons
and candy for _their achievements.
Adults were also awarded prizes.
Mrs., James Peacock was the oldest
grandmother present. A picnic lunch
was enjoyed.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Gates of
Cherrywood; were week-end guests
with Mr. and Mrs. Milton Fraser. Mr.
and Mrs. J. A. Geddes, Belgrave, spent
a few days with Mrs. Mary Robertson.
Ileane Selling, Eleanor Smith and
Bill Thompson, were patients in ,the
Wingham General Hospital this week,
having a tonsil operation.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Harris and
two sons, Barry and Bruce, of Fair-
port, nea Dumbarton, spent the week-
end with Mr. and Mrs. Edward John-
ston. The boys will remain for their
vacation.
Mrs. J. H. Horning and Miss Mary
A, Clarke of Toronto, visited this week
with their aunt, Mrs. Arthur Shaw and
other relatives.
Mrs. Stewart Young, Mr. and Mrs.
Roy: Welch, Jack Young and Miss
Isabel Murray, Toronto, called on
friends including Miss Mabel Coultes,
Mrs. Lillow and Mrs. R. E, McKin-
ney,
Mayor. Thos. E. Henry, ,and Mrs.
Henry, Stratford, spent Sunday with
Miss Sanderson.
