given by Mrs. Stanley Cook. The
study book was taken by Mrs. Marvin
McDowell. The president, Mrs. Wm.
McVittie, was in charge of the busi-
ness. Minutes were read and adopt-
ed. The roll call was answered with
a verse of scripture. Prayers by Mrs.
McVittie; Mrs. Melvin Taylor and
Mrs. Marvin McDowell were appoint-
ed delegates to the Presbyterial to be
field at Seaforth on April 27th. • A let-
ter of appreciation was read from Mrs.
(Rev.) R. Longley of Toronto, and
Miss Noreen O'Keefe of Queen Alex-
andra San,, London. The meeting was
closed with the benediction. A bale
of clothing was packed for the Europ-
can relief valued at $60.00. This is
the second bale the W.M.S. have sent
this year.

Howick Lions will hold an amateur
night in Wroxeter Town Hall, April
80th., at 8.80 p.m., Daylight Saying
Time, The first 80 entries will be ac-
cepted. $60.00 is offered in prizes. En-
try blanks may be secured from 'Hec-
tor Knight, Wroxeter, pp to 6 P.m.,
April 28th.
"Dark Was the Night" the play pre-
sented by Whitechurch Women's In-
stitute and to be presented. in Wrox-
eter this week sponsored by the Wo-
men's Guild of St. James Anglican
Church, comes well recommended,
having been given inLucknow, Ripley,

National Film Showing
On Wednesday evening, April 21st,,
in Wroxeter Town Hall, the National
Film Board sponsored by the local
Women's Institute, will present .the
following interesting films, "Brazil"
"Arctic Thrills", "Eye Witness" which
includes news items, (1), Canada's
voice heard in a debate on atomic
control at the United Nations Secur-
ity Council meeting and new methods
in grading and drying hemlock lumber

D.D.G.M. Visits Lodge
Forest Lodge A,F. & A.M. had a
distinguished guest when they met for
their April meeting on Monday, 12th.

Tiverton, D.D.G.M., for this district.
Visitors were present from the neigh-
boring lodges. Following the regular
meeting a social hour was enjoyed,
Executive Meeting
The Executive meeting for East
Huron District Women Institute will
be held in the Town Hall, Ethel, on
Thursday, April 29th., at 2 p.m. to ar-
range for the District Annual which
will be held in Brussels on June 1st.,
when it is expected Miss Anna Lewis,
Superintendent of Women's Institute
and Home Economics Branch for 'Ont-
ario will be a guest speaker. Fordwich,
Gorrie, Wroxete Bluevale, Ethel, Brus-
sels and the newly organized Moles-
worth Branch comprise the East Hur-
on District.
Minstrel Show a Success
The good reputation Teeswater tal-
ent have in this village for plays and
concerts was not only lived up to but
exceeded on Wednesday evening last,

Mr. and Mrs. Norman McLaugh-
lin, of Wingham, were Sunday visitors
with Mr. Thomas and Miss Beatrice
Shearer.

Mrs, Peter Milligan has returned
from Wingham General Hospital and
is improving in health, we are glad
to report.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dane had for
week-end guests, Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
Seegmiller and son, Wm. Jr., Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Hertzburger and daugh-
ter, Sandra, all of Kitchener, Mr. and
Mrs. Russel Christie and son, Tommy
of Teeswater.
Mrs. Albert Gallaher is spending
this week with her daughter, Mrs.
Thos. McLennitt at Fordwich South.
Mrs. Verne Clark has been able to
leave Wingham General Hospital and
is staying with her mother, Mrs. Gor-
don Underwood, Gorrie.
The ladies of Salem Church will
cater for the Howick Lions Ladies
Night supper on Thursday, April 22,
at 7.15 o'clock. A presentation will be
made to Past District Deputy Govern-
or Gordon Hargrave. All Lions Club
in the district are expected to be re-
presented.

King, presented a Minstrel Show
sponsored by the Howick Lions. A
capacity audience with many standing
filled the Town Hall. The chorus en-
tertained with songs, new and old.
some solo numbers were especially
well done. Ken Edgar on behalf of the
Howick Lions welcomed the group.
There was a wide variety of songs and
musical numbers. The Group were
generous to the satisfatcion of every-
one, This is the second time a Tees-
water Minstrel Show has been pres-
entd in Wroxeter with several out
standing plays also coming from that
town. A concert group from Teeswater
can be assured of a full and apprecia-1
tive audience here, A dance followed
the concert with Wilbee's Orchestra
supplying music.
Young People's Union
Scott Hunter, convener of Culture,
arranged theweckly Monday evening
meeting of the Young People's Union,

the meeting to order with quiet music
At the piano. President Jean Moffat
gave the Call to Worship. Rise Up 0
Men of God, was the opening hymn
Scott Hunter chose for the scripture
reading, Tirnothy,Chapter 4, followed
by the Lord's Prayer. All joined in
singing, Glorious things of Thee are
spoken. The topic was taken by Rev.
U. E. Cronheihn whose subjeat p as
"Books". The speaker said even in the
days of St. Paul, he called for his
books front which he received great
benefit. Some suggestions were given
on how to thoose and what books to
read, which were worthwhile. The
hymn, Go Labour On was sung. In the
weekly half hour Bible Study, Mr.
Cronhielm chose for his text front St.
Itlarks Gospel, chapter 5, giving
thorough insight into the healing of the
man front the unclean spirit. The rais-
ing of the tlanghter Darius, The Mir-
ulous healing of the woman who
merely touched the hem of his garment
Fourteen answered the Roll Call. The

Church Re-opening
Large congregations were present at
the United Church on Sunday, April
18th, when re-opening services were
held, Rev.U, Cronhielm was in
charge, and based his sermon on the

added brightness to the service. A
special evening service was held when
members of the different church or-
ganizations contributed a number of
music. Members of the Young People's
Union occupied the choir, Miss Gilber-
ta Howes was soloist, singing "Dedi-
cation," "Have Thine Own Way" was
sung by a mixed quartette, Miss Jean
Moffat, Miss Thelma Denny, Messrs.
Bob Cunningham and Pete Dobson.
Nine members of the Mission Band
sang "Open the door for Jesus". Mrs.
H, Hamilton andMrs, D. S. MacNau-
ghton favoured with a duet, "Bless this
House," Rev. U. E. Cronhielm spoke
from the words "See now I dwell in an
house of cedar but the ark of God
dwelleth within curtains" and Nathan
said Go do all that is within thy
heart for the Lord is with Thee", Sam-
uel II, iverses 2 and 3. The speaker said
it was a great privilege to worship in
a beautiful church and compared its
comfort to other church's especially in
China, where sometimes there were
only a few Christians interested in
building a plac of worship. It was nec-
essary to have a church well organiz-
ed, but above all, We must worship
God in Spirit and in Truth, and in the
beauty of holiness. At the evening ser-
vice a special offering was taken for
the Biulding Fund.
Women's Guild
The April meeting of the Women's
Guild of St. James Anglican Church,
was held on Tuesday afternoon at the
home of Mrs. George Griffith, Presi-
dent, Mrs, H. V. l‘facKenney presided
and the meeting opened with repeating
The Lord's Prayer. Secretary, Mrs.
Ed. Bennett presented the minutes
and correspondence which included
thank you notes for gifts sent to the
sick and shut ins, Plans were made to
cater to Dramatic Club from White-
church on April 23rd. Fancy quilt
blocks were donated by Mrs. Ed. Ben
bers will assemble at next meeting.
New vases for the altar were present-
ed by Mrs. Brothers and Miss M,
Brothers. The Travelling Basket con-
taining Cream, Eggs, Vegetables and
a hand turned linen Kerchief had
ready sale. The roll call was respond-
ed to by the payment of fees. Mrs. Ed-
wards closed the meeting with prayer.
A social hour followed when the hos-
tess was assisted by Miss M. Griffith
and Miss Elizabeth Griffith.
BELMORE
The April meeting of the W, M. S.
will be held in the United Church on
April 25th, Rev. Cronhiehn will be
guest speaker and show views. A
large gathering is hoped for, Every-
body welocme.
Rev. Udell visited his sick in Mild-
may ott Tuesday.
A very pretty store at one time,
built about 70 years ago, met its doom
last week Miss Jeffray giving it to
Mr. Huber, Mildmay,
Mrs. Hunkins's sisters and family
visited her last week.
Miss Grace Horton, now of Wing-
ham, spent Sunday with her parents.
The 'Dickson brothers, Allan Darl-
ing, Jimmie Darling, Elmer Jeffray
arc all working in the bush.
Little Dianne Fitch picks her com-
pany this time it is the measles.
Mrs. Wm, Edwards is at .Lorne's at
Teeswater where they have a baby boy.
The village was well represented at
tit Minstrel Show at Wroxeter Wed-
nesday evening, amid all had a good
laugh. Teeswater men know how to
sing and dance and they certainly (to
make good ladies.
The institute meeting is postponed
until next Wednesday.
