FOUNDATION' SHRUBS
In foundation planting around a
home it should be remembered that
evergreens with their snore definite
outline tend to draw attention to the
portion of the house near which they
are planted. Consequently they can be
used to good effect in emphasizing
the best architectural features of the
house. On the other hand, deciduous
shrubs do not draw the eyes so defin-
it ely but have a more softening effect.
hey should be used for instance, to
hide the less attractive features such as
a high concrete foundation,
