Colwell - Baird
A very pretty wedding was solemn,
ized on Tuesday, March 27th, at the
Pine River Manse, when Rev, Jolln C.
Hutton united in marriage Noreen
Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. John
Baird and the late Mrs, Baird of
Wingham with William A. Colwell of
Tiverton, only son of Mrs. Colwell

The bride was lovely in a floor-
length gown of white nylon with
rhinestone trim. Her long embroidered
veil was fastened to a coronet of lily
of the valley. She carried a bouquet
of white lillies, lily of the valley and
fern and wore the groom's gift, a
string of pearls.
Miss Margaret Baird as her sister's
bridesmaid was frocked in a floor-
length gown of white jersey. Her bou-
quet was of apple blossoms, roses and

groom's gift to the bridesmaid
was a gold necklet and to the grooms-
man, Mr. L. G. Bryce, of Wingbam, a
gold tie-pin,
For travelling the bride donned a
suit of light grey with matching hat.
and coat, -sand black suede shoes. On
their return they will reside on the
groom's farm at Tiverton.

Mrs. Joseph Chamney
Mrs. Joseph Chamney died at her
home on Saturday, after a lengthy ill-
ness, in her 80th year. Formerly Sarah
Perdue, she had lived all her life in
East Wawanosh, Her husband died 19
years ago. She is survived by two sons,
Cecil on the homestead, and Clarence
who lives across the road; two dau-i
ghters, Mrs. G. A. (Lulu) MacLau-
ghlin, Detroit; Mrs. Raymond. (Lena)
Finnigan, Crewe; one sister, Mrs,
David Chamney, Wingham, and six.
grandchildren. Mrs, Chamney was a
member of the Donnybrook United
Church and was especially noted for
being a good neighbor. The funeral
services were held from the residence
of her son, Mr. Cecil Chamney, at 2
p.m. on Tuesday, April 13th. Inter-
ment was made in Wingham cemetery,
Olive R. Cruikshank
Olive R., Criukshank, highly respec-
ted and well known native of Wing-
ham, passed away in Ottawa Hospital,
on Sunday, April 11th, after' an illness
of several weeks.
Born in Wingham, daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. George Cruikshank
of Wingham, she received her early
education here, later graduating from
Toronto University with a Bachelor
of Science degree in 1914,
Following her graduation from the
University of Toronto in 1914, Miss
Cruikshank served as matron in charge
of the Girls' Residence at the Univer-
sity of Toronto. The following year
she joined the staff of the University
of Manit6ba in the Household Science

at the Ontario Agricultural College.
She held this post as head of the
Household Science Division for 22
years and in 1942 her services were
loaned to the Dominion Government
as manager of the Laurentian Terrace,
residence of women employees of the
Federal Government, She was serving
in this capacity when stricken about
three weeks ago. ,
She is survived by her brother,
Robert of Wingham, Her parents and
one brother, George, predeceased her,
Funeral services are being held to-
day, (Wednesday), April 14th, at 2,30
p.m. from Currie's Funeral Home,
with Rev, W. A. Beecroft, in charge.
Interment will be made in Winghain
eembtery.
Mrs, Peter IVIeGue
In Toronto East General Hospital,
on 'Thursday, April 8th, the death oc-
curred of Sarah Ann !O'Malley, widow
of the late Peter MdGuc, in her 85th
year..
Requiem. High Mass was sung in
Sacred Heart Church, Wingham, at
9 a.m„ on Monday, April 12th.
Interment was made in Wingham R.
C. Cemetery.

Glen Swan, (nee Edith McClenaghan),
on her recent marriage.
Lively games and contests were
conducted under the leadership of
,Mrs. Ken Wheeler. George Johnston
and Rev. W. J. Moores. Mrs. George
Johnston was at the piano for the mus-
ical games.
Mr. Earl Anderson at the conclusion
of the games asked the bride and
groom to come forward. He spoke of
the fine character of the bride and of
her willingness to help in the Sunday
School, the Church and the Commun-
ity.
Expressing the wishes of the gather-
ing, he presented the table of gifts.
The bride and groom both replied
in well chosen words. Delicious re-
freshments were served, whiclrbrought
the evening to a close. Mr. and Mrs..
Swan will make their home at Bruce-

The sum of 92.0 was collected in
the village by members of the Wo-
men's Institute in aid of the Canadian I

rear ravaged countries of Europe.
National Film Board
The National Film Board will pre-
cut their monthly showing on Tuesday
evening, April 20th, at 8,80 sharp in
re Township Hall. The following
films will be shown: After six o'doek,
Fit for To-morrow; Modern Guide to
Health; Mexico Today; Singing Stars
of To-morrow. Eye witness and Flee-
tricky. The health pictures should be
particularly interesting. It is hoped
there will he a, good attendance.
