Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Currie of Isling-

side, are spending the holidays with

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cox visited
on Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Sprung of Auburn.
Mrs. Brochu, Mr. Charles Brochn,
Mr, Jack Maloy, of Toronto, visited
over the week-end with the former's
daughter, Mrs. Joe Brophy and Mr.
Brophy.
GORRIE
Mrs. Levi Galbraith
After several months of poor health,
Mrs. Levi Galbraith passed away on
Sunday, March 21st,, at the home of
her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Albert Wright, of the 17th con.
of Howick. Formerly Mary Ellen Car-
son, she was born in Morris Township,
the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Hugh Carson, moving to Howick at
the age of seven. In 1890 she was mar-
ried to Levi Galbraith. Deceased was
in her 85th year. The funeral was held
from the home of her son-in-law, on
Wednesday, March 24th, with Rev.
Knox of Clifford, conducting time ser-
vice, A duct, "Does Jesus Care" was
sung by Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wright.
She is survived by her husband, two
daughters, (Eva), Mrs. Albert Wright;
(Emma), Mrs, Thomas Nichol of
Teeswater, and on son, Eldon at
home. There are four grandchildren,
and four great grandchildren. One son,
Stanley predeceased her 24 years ago,
also six sisters and three brothers pre-
deceased her. The pallbearers were
Mr. Fred Mahood of London; 'William
Klaholtz, Berton Hubbard, George
Hubbard. Sr., Samuel. Webber and
Samuel Burnett.
She was laid to rest in the family
plot in Gorrie cemetery.
, Mr. and Mrs. Cloyne Aliehel and
Karen spent Easter Sunday with
friends in Ethel.

from Toronto where she spent the

Mr. Archie Edgar of London, spent
the holiday and week-end with his
brother, Mr. Gordon Edgar and Mrs.
Edgar,
Charles Cowan and Lorne King are
busily engaged these days conveying
passengers across the Maitland river
in a row boat. This is quite an advan-
tage especially to those living on the
north side of the river who are cut
off from the business section as it sav-
es a five mile drive over bad roads.
There are also some who have their
place of business on one side and resi-
dence on the other.
Misses Isabel and Loreen King
were holiday visitors at the home of
their parents, Mr, and Mrs. Frank
Cole.
AH. Lloyd Hockridge of London,
visited with Mr, and Airs. Thos. Brad-
nock over the holiday.
Miss Eleanor Carson was home
from Toronto, for the Easter holiday.
Miss Pearl Harding of Toronto,
was an Easter visitor with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Harding.
Rev. Thos. H. Farr, a former rector
of the Parish of Gorrie, Fordwich and
Wroxeter, observed his. 90th birthday
on March 15th. He now resides with
his son, Rev. Morley Farr in Strat-
ford. An informal reception was held
at which other members of his family,
Rev, and Mrs. Beverley Farr, Gode-
rich and his daughter, Miss Margaret
Farr, Windsor, were present. In spite
of his advanced age he enjoys fairly
good health.
Mrs. Wm. Earngey had the misfor-
tune to fall on Sunday morning on the
icy sidewalk while on her way to
church. She received a bad shaking up
but fortunately no bones were broken.
Mr. Win. Nay of Kitchener, spent
the Easter holiday with Mr. and Mrs.
John Musgrove.
United Church
The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper
was observed in the "United Church on
Sunday. Four new members 'by certi-
ficate and five by profession of faith,
were received into the church mem-
bership. There was special Easter
music. A large congregation attended
considering the condition of the roads.
Mrs. Jennie Edgar of Clinton, visit-
ed over the week-end with her son,
Mr. Thos. Edgar and ;Mrs. Edgar.
Young People's Union
The Young People's Union held
their Easter service in the evening at.
8 p.m. Dave Neilson, president was in
charge, assisted by Audrey Hastie
and Marie O'Kraika. The Young
People's Choir tinder the direction of •
'George Gregg, organist, sang the.,.,
Lord's Prayer. Mr. E. J. Parrish was
guest speaker using as his theme,'
"First Things" basing his remarks
upon time Lord' Prayer, whiCh was en-
joyed by the congregation.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Martin of God-
ph, are spending time Easter vacationi
with friends here.
The W.M.S. of the United Church
will meet at the home of Mrs. Hector
Hamilton on Thursday, April 1st., at

Seedtime. All the ladies of time con-
gregation are cordially invited to at-
tend.
Mr. anti Mrs. Hugh Switzer, Billy
and Bobby, attended the funeral on
Thursday in Mount Forest of Mrs.
Switzer's grandfather, the late Irwin
Robb. The deceased was in his 81st.
year.

with their parents, Rev. and Mrs. G. G.
Howse.
Howick Council have estimated it
will cost 585,000 to rebuild bridges an
repair roads •dattaged by the recent
spring floods.
In last week's issue there was an
error in the date given in which the
.Gorrie bridge, which was washed out 1 .
bad been erected. It should have read
1908.
Mrs. Cecil Day has returned ,from
Victoria Hospital, London, and. is at
the home of her daughter, Mrs, Clar-
ence Spading and Mr. Spalding. Her
many friends are hoping that her con-
dition may continue to improve.
