floods, Gravel roads are badly gouged
out, with many deep guts across the
roads, to show where the water had
been running. With many side-roads
closed on account of high water around
the rivers and creeks.
Mr. Albert Stein left last week for
his home at Craig, Sask., after spend-
ing the past few months with relatives
in this community,
The regular monthly meeting of the
W.M,S. of the United Church was held
last Wednesday in the S.S, room of
the cleurchewith the President, Mrs.
Victor Emerson in charge of the meet-
ing. The theme was "the Field is the
World, the Seed is the Word." After
the call to worship, all sang, "0, For
a Thousand Tongues to Sing", and
Mrs. Emerson led in prayer, Mrs.
Groskorth led in the Scripture lesson,
from Mark 4, The Field is ,the World,"
Mrs. J, D. Beecroft gave a reading,
telling how Christ always spoke of all
the people of the world belonging to
His Father, and belonging together.
Mrs. Ezra Scholtz led in prayer for
the success of the efforts of all miss-
ionary workers in God's Kingdom,
Mrs. W. R. Farrier gave a short read-
ing re The Bible for all the World, is
the aim of the British and Foreign
Bible Society, to make it a common
possession of all mankind. It was de-
cided to invite Mr. G. M. Newton to
address the next W.M.S. meeting for
the Easter Thank Offering, Mrs. Far-
rier read a letter written as a tribute
to the late Missionary, Miss Caroline
Wellwood, to Mr. Bert Wellwood of
Wingham, and which is being circul-
ated among all W,M.S. groups, for
perusal and consideration of her won-
derful contribution to the life of the
Chinese peoples as nurse and Supt. of
Nurses' Training School, and Nurses'
Home and the Hospital at Chengtu,
Mrs. W, J. Watt then had charge
of the Chapter, Babel Unscrambled,
from the Study Book, Great is the
Company, telling of the work of Mis-
sionaries in Bengali, learning the dif-
ferent languages of the peoples, and
translating the Bible into these lang-
uages, and printing them in a second.

Little Miss Elaine Conn has been
Visiting for the past week with her

lick of Culross.
Mr, Russell Ross has had a very
sore face lately, when infection started
into what had been a frost-bite on his
fee&
Several in this community have
tapped their maple trees during the
past week.
- The people on the 9th of E. Wawa-
nosh held their weekly Euchre at the
home of Mr, and Mrs, Richard Chim-
ney on Thursday night, and Mrs,
Stanley Marks and Ernest Snowden
held high pOints, and Alice Marks
and Jim McCallum low points. The
Euchre this week is to be held at the
home of Mr, and Mrs. Bert Thompson.
Measles have been going the rounds
among the children of S. S. No. 7, E.
Wawanosh during the past week.
Mrs. Jos. Chamney has been quite
ill at the home of her son, Mr. ,Cecil
Chamney, during the past two weeks.
Mrs. John Mason and her rand-
daughter, Julie Mason, spent 'a few
days last week at the -home of Mr. and
Mrs. Fleming Johnston, of Bluevale,
returning home on Wednesday with
the latter's father, Mr. Lloyd Mason
of Listowel.
The Whitechurch Farm Forum met
on Monday evening at the home of
Mr. arid Mrs. Gordon Elliott for the
last meeting of the season. After the
broadcast, Mr. Cecil Falconer was in
charge. Those who had attended the
Farm Forum Rally at Clinton gave in-
teresting reports. On the review sheet
they decided that all the subjects for
consideration had been conducive to
discussion and of interest to Forum
members. The three most interesting
topics were, "We need a National
Farm Marketing Act", "Are Farmers
Business Men", and "What Machines,
have done for us," This Forum hand
led the Huron Co-Operative Medical
Service Work as a project with 11
families taking on the Insurance, Mr,
Gordon Elliott collected $58.60 for
the Save the Children Fund. At the
euchre Mrs. Donald Martin and James
Falconer held high points. Lunch was
served and a social time enjoyed by
all. The Forum intends to hold a pot
luck supper at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. James Falconer to wind up the
meetings.
Mr. Thomas Jamieson and sons,
John, Earl and Ronald, have been very
ill with measles.
Wedding Bells are ringing.

the Night" which is being presented
by a local cast under auspices of W. I.
in the Memorial Hall here next Wed-
nesday evening.
The Reeve, Road Supt. and Council-
lors of E., Wawanosh went over their
township roads on Tuesday deciding
on necessary work to be done during
the summer months,
The annual meeting of the congre-
gation of the Presbyterian Church,
will be held on Friday evening, April
2nd.
