A pretty wedding was solemnized
at high noon on Tuesday, March 9th,

Mr. Alan Williams of Toronto, spent
the week-end with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs Geo. Williams.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hare of Toronto
spent the week-end with the former's
mother, Mrs. M. Hare,
Miss Marjorie French of Toronto
University, spent the week-end with
her parents, Mr, land Mrs. W, H.
French.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Smith of Ash-
field, spent Wednesday of last week
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. W.
McRoberts.
Mr, and Mrs. W. J, Henderson are
leaving this week on a trip to Minne-
opolis, Minn., and also to Winnipeg
where they will visit with relatives
and friends.
Mr. Graham Fenn and daughter,
Judy of Parkhill, spent Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Burgman. Mrs.
E Fenn, who has been spending the
winter months here returned with
them to Parkhill.

Mr, and Mrs. Albert Walters, Tees-
water, became the bride of Bruce
Buchanan, of London, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Hugh Buchanan of London. Rev,
W. S. Sutherland officiated,
The bride was lovely in a Fleur-de-
Rose faille street length .dress with
flaring ballerina skirt and draped neck
line. She wore a corsage of pink roses.
Her' only ornament was a double
string of pearls, the gift of the groom.
Her attendant, Miss Donna Van-
Camp, was gowned in a two-piece
frock of navy blue Bengaline with hat
to match. She wore a corsage of Red
Roses.
The groom was assisted by Mr,
John Walters ,brother of the bride.
For travelling the bride donned a
blue shortie coat with navy blue hat
and matching accessories.
The happy couple left by motor for
Toronto and Montreal, and on their
return will reside in, London.

Mrs. R. Woods was hosteSs on
Thursday for the meeting of the W.
M. S. and W. A. of the United Church,
Fourteen ladies were in attendance,
and Mrs. W. I. Miller presided for
the meeting of the WX,S. For the
Worship service, the theme of which
was -"The •field is the world, the seed
is the wade"-, the president was assist-
ed by Mrs, G. McPherson, It was
agreed to invite Rev, eM, G, Newton
to address the Easter meeting, Mrs.
McPherson reported for Africa and
a Herald for Home Missions, Mrs,
Cameron read the interesting story of
the Bakevay Family, Mrs, S. A, Todd
had charge of the chapter from the
Study Booka'Greet is the ,Company on
the price of Splendor."
For the meeting of the W. A, the
vice-president, Mrs, S. A. Todd, presi-
sided. The theme as "The Reserree-
lien," The scripture lesson was read
by Mrs. T. J Todd and the lesson
thoughts by Mrs. Lorne Woods. Mrs,
M. G, Newton and the presidents and
secretaries of both societies were ap-
pointed to make out programs for the
year,
Mr, and Mrs, Lorne Woods and
Donna, and Mrs. Helm were recent
guests of Mr. and Mrs, Jack Gardner
of Zion.
Plans are being made for a dance on
Wednesday, March 24th, in the com-
munity Hall under the .auspices of the
Women's Institute with music by
Varrier's Orchestra.
Mr. Ed, Webster, of Big Valley,
Alberta, visited recently with Mrs.
Helm and Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Woods,

her parents, r. and Mrs. David Mc-

Little Miss Mildred Hall of Toron-
to, is spending sometime with her
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence W
Mr, and Mrs. Alfred Kennedy Of
Galt, have been spending awhile at
the home of the latter's parents, Mr.
and Mrs Walter Savage. Mr. Ken-
nedy underwent an operation some-
time ago, but is improving nicely.

Wawanosh, spent Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Selah Breckenridge.

Wingham General Hospital. Mr. Mc-
Kee has not been enjoying good health
for the past two months, We hope
there may soon be some improvement.

funeral of their aunt, Mrs. Janet Pat-
terson of Brantford on Saturday.
Mrs, Frances Earngey and Miss
Muriel Lambert of Guelph, are spend-
ing some time with Miss Kate Earn-
gey. Miss Kay Willits of Brussels,
and Mr. Dean Earngey of Fergus,
were aveek-end visitors at the same
home.
'On Friday afternoon and evening,
about thirty ladies of the Gorrie Com-
muity gathered in the Orange Hall at
a quilting bee, Six quilts were com-
pleted for the Red Cross shipment,
shipment, The Executive of the Red
Cross are very grateful to all who have
helped in making and quilting of these
quilts also to the ladies in the country
groups who are making quilts.

dons to Mr. and Mrs. John Hyndman,
who on Saturday, March 13th, marked •
their 559th wedding anniversary. Both
are quite active and enjoy fairly good
health. That they may live to see many
more anniversaries is the wish of their
many friends.
Mrs. Allan Hyndman is teaching at
No. 4 school as Mrs. Ira McLean is ill
with mumps. There have been a few
cases of mumps around here through-
out the winter, bet there seems to be
a fresh outbreak during the past week.

Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Percy Ashton.
A number from here attended Hoc-
key Matches in Durham and Palmer-
ston last week.
Mr. and Mrs, Ernest King visited

Gorrie and Community Club Annual
The Gorric and Community Club
will hold their annual meeting on
Monday evening in the Orange Hall,
at 8.30 p.m. Election of officers will
take place. if you are interested in
the betterment of your community,
