Mrs. Norman Wade, Rev. J. C. Caley,
gave a talk on the "Epiphany", giving
first some stagtitics. This year there
will be five Sundays in February, This
occurs only three times in this cen-
ury. The last time was in 1920. God,
leading by a star manifested His Son
to the. Gentiles, and has promised "He
that followeth after me shall not walk
in darkness but shall have the Light of
Life."
He closed with the Collect of Epi-
phany and the benediction. A delicious

showing of educational films in the
Orange Hall on Tuesday evening. The
attendance at these pictures, for which
there is no charge, has not been very
good and if there is no improvement
they may be discontinued at Gorrie.

brother, Arnold Earl, of Kitchener.

Hockey
On Tuesday evening Ifildmay play-
ed with the local team in the rink here,
Mildmay winning. The score was Mild-
may, 5, Gorrie 4. On Friday evening
another game was played with Ford-
wich at which the GOrrie team were
winners, score, Gorrie 6, Fordwich, 5.

Roberts suffered injuries to his head
and neck but is recovering.
Friends of Mr. Bert Harris, con. 15,
will learn with regret that lie is con-
fined to bed suffering from a heart

Dr. Wm, H, Butt, Toronto alderman,
died suddenly at his home on January
10th, of a heart attack at the age 'of
62. He was a brother of Rev, Gordon
Butt of Windsor formerly of Gorrie.

. Red Cress Annual
The annual meeting of the Gorrie
and District branch of the Red Cross
was held in the Orange Hall on Mon-
day afternoon, Meeting opened with
singing of National Anthem,,The Pre-
sident, Mrs, Alex Taylor was in the
c hair. Minutes of last annual meeting
and treasurer's report were read.
The president told of the peace time
activities of the Red Cross. During the
year two hospital beds were purchased
for our own community, also four Dun-
lop pillows. These have been in almost
constant use, It is hoped that this sum-
mer in conjunction with the Commun-
iy Club we may have a Swimming and
Water Safety Instructor. ,
Some sewing was done last spring
for Great Britain. Twelve 28 piece lay-
ettes were finished, Again this winter
we have been asked to sew and quilts
are also needed in Gt. Britain, The
following were named by the Presi-
dent, as a quilt committee: Mrs. Gor-
don Underwood, Mrs. Earl Under-
wood, Mrs. J. nicGuffin, Mrs. Addic
Jacques.
Mr. Norman Wade took the chair for
the election of officers. Last year's
executive were returned and are: Hon.

Hutton; President, Mrs. Alex Taylor,

FORTY YEARS AGO
Wingham Won Handily—The sec-
ond game in Northern League hockey
was played here on Monday evening
between the Sepoys of Lucknow and
the local team with the local boys win-
ning by a 17 to 3 score. The Wingham
team showed good form with Herb
Elliott, Fleming and Ted Elliott com-
bining for many three men rushes that
resulted in a goal being scored, while
Hal McLean as rover helped to pile up
the score by his accurate shots. John-
ston and Moore were a stonewall de-
fence anti little "Dooley" Britton in
goal is a wonder. The line-ups: Luck-
now—McCaig, W. McCloy, P. McCloy,
Thompson, Johnston, Peart and Hab-

Second Wolf Shot In Howick
On Thursday last another large wolf
was shot in Howick Townshipaon the
farm of Mr. Cleve Vittie, 12th con., by
Mr. Wesley Gallaway, who with his
father, Mr. Wilbert Gallawoy, trailed
the animal almost a mile.
