United church news
The Sacrament of Baptism
was held Sunday morning at
the United church, when
Joshua William, son of Susan
and Ronald Broderick, and
Lori Ann daughter of
Deborah and David
Desjardine were baptized.
Rev. H. Moore's sermon
topic was "A time for pon-
dering", with scripture from
second chapter of Luke,
verses one to twenty. Choir
anthem today was "All
through the year".
Dates of the annual
meetings are as follows:
Grand Bend United, Monday
January 19th.
Official Board - Tuesday,
January 27th.
Even though it was a
blustery, stormy Christmas
eve, a good number attended
the Christmas eve service at
the United church. Assisting
Rev. H. Moore in the service
were session members, Roy
Johnson, Fred Willert and
Alex Hamilton, which
consisted of scripture
readings and carol pinging.
Angela Yenning sang the
solo part in "Silent Night",
with the congregation
joining in other verses. Irene
Kennedy presided at the
organ.
A break-in at the Ten-
derspot grocery store in
Grand Bend is still under
investigation by provincial
police at Pinery park
detachment. During the
week of December 21 to 27,
two other break and enters
were investigated. Several
trailers at Kit Kat Travel
Park in. Port Franks were
entered.
One impaired driver was
charged, and six charges
were laid under the highway
traffic act. There were three
charges laid under the liquor
licence act, and four drivers
were charged for snow,
vehicle infractions. Police
also investigated 11
miscellaneous occurrences.

ONE DOWN - Sometimes a tree ride isn't always smooth. Karen Stewart, 10, of London
telt the bumps when her sister, Janice 13, and Tammy Hurner 12, of Grand Bend let her
down. The girls were enjoying the winter weather on the old river bed at Grand Bend.

The skating rink has been
flooded and is reported to be
in good condition. The
toboggan run is in very good
condition.
As yet, the park hasn't
opened its gates to
snowmobilers. Snow
vehicles are not allowed in
the park unless there is at
least six inches of snow.
Despite the fact that trails
have not yet been groomed, a
large number of cross-
country skiers enjoyed the
snow and sunshine at Pinery
Provincial Park over the
weekend. Park officials hope
to have the trails groomed
this week, and are expecting
large crowds for the New
Years holidays.
Again this year, there will
be no tows operating for
downhill skiing.
