Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Curts with their family Council gives wage raises Grand Bend council has settled wage negotiations for 1981 with village employees, Village clerk Louise Clip- perton will be getting $15,000 in 1981, up from $13,379. Her assistant Christine Smith will make $9,555, up from $8,397. Paul Bossenberry in the village works department will be earning $13,966 up from $12,709. The recently hired village foreman, Jack Stanlake, will be making $14,500, with the chance of an increase of $500 after a six month probation period. Council settled the wages during an in camera session following last week's meeting. Council met to interview applicants for the foreman's position, The next council meeting will be January 5. At that time council will be hearing objections to the new zoning by-law ikr,21,4 United church news The Sacrament of Baptism was held Sunday morning at the United church, when Joshua William, son of Susan and Ronald Broderick, and Lori Ann daughter of Deborah and David Desjardine were baptized. Rev. H. Moore's sermon topic was "A time for pon- dering", with scripture from second chapter of Luke, verses one to twenty. Choir anthem today was "All through the year". Even though it was a blustery, stormy Christmas eve, a good number attended the Christmas eve service at the United church. Assisting Rev. H. Moore in the service were session members, Roy Johnson, Fred Willert and Alex Hamilton, which consisted of scripture readings and carol pinging. Angela Yenning sang the solo part in "Silent Night", with the congregation joining in other verses. Irene Kennedy presided at the organ. A break-in at the Ten- derspot grocery store in Grand Bend is still under investigation by provincial police at Pinery park detachment. During the week of December 21 to 27, two other break and enters were investigated. Several trailers at Kit Kat Travel Park in. Port Franks were entered. One impaired driver was charged, and six charges were laid under the highway traffic act. There were three charges laid under the liquor licence act, and four drivers were charged for snow, vehicle infractions. Police also investigated 11 miscellaneous occurrences. Despite the fact that trails have not yet been groomed, a large number of cross- country skiers enjoyed the snow and sunshine at Pinery Provincial Park over the weekend. Park officials hope to have the trails groomed this week, and are expecting large crowds for the New Years holidays. Again this year, there will be no tows operating for downhill skiing.
