ed by the Exeter Minor Hockey Association on December 26 and 27 at the rec Centre. A total of 14 teams will compete in

Playoffs continue
Saturday morning with the
first genie getting, underway
at 9 p.m. The "C" final goes
at 3 p.m. f011owed by the
"B" final at 4 p.m. and the
"A" championship at 5 p.m.
All games will be com-
prised of three 10 minute
periods of stop time. If tied
there will be a 10 minute stop
time sudden-death overtime
period. If still tied five
players to take penalty
shots.
In "B" play, the team that
wins by the biggest goal
spread will get a bye into the
finals. If two teams are still
tied, the team with the goals
against will win. If still tied
the team that scored earliest
in their respective game
shall win. The other two
winners will meet each other
to determine who advances.
In "A" and"C" play, the
two teams which win their
second games will play for
the championship. The two
losers will be eliminated.
The two losing teams in each
final will be considered
consolation winners.
Exeter and St. Marys
minor hockey teams came
up with an even split in a
triple-header played at the
South Huron rec centre,
Wednesday.
The visiting pee wees
bombed the locals by an 8-3
count, the bantam teams
battled to a 1-1 tie and the
Exeter midgets posted a 3-2
triumph to open a three-point
lead on top of the Shamrock
northern division loop over
St. Marys.
St. Marys pee wees scored
six straight goals in the
latter part of the first and
into the second period to win
handily in the opening tilt.
The locals did manage to
win the third period battle as
they out-scored the visitors
by a 3-2 margin.
Bryan Quinn scored both
third.period goals, while Jim
Lewis notched one in the
first. Terry Zachar and Lee
Watt picked up the assists.
The Exeter bantams put
together one of their best
games of the season and
their second straight strong
effort to hold St. Marys to a
1-1 tie,

each team playing a man
short in the third.
Exeter hit two goal posts
late in the third period to
narrowly miss picking up
• their first win of the season,
Netminder Rick Gilfillan
came up with a strong
performance for' Exeter to
help his mates to the tie.
In the final game of the
night, the Exeter midgets
battle back from a 2-1
deficit with two goals late in
the final period to post their
win. It evened. the season
record at one win each
between the two teams.
Jamie Chaffe gave Exeter
a 1-0 lead in the first when he
tipped in a shot by Mark
Vandergunst, but St. Marys
potted two for the lead early
in the third.
Dave Hayter evened the
count on a play with Jeff
Rowe with less than four
minutes remaining and Dave
Underwood fired the winner
27 seconds later on a play
