"1"" "?P" W u , eCOMOer 44, N YSi LI IT SMELLS GOOD — Bill Mickle gives Harry Klungel a whiff of the fish heads he was cook- ing Wednesday night at the gourmet cooking class at South Huron District High School.T-A pho+,, Passion play Ecumenical for Christmas By ANNE WALPER GREENWAY Intended for last week A large crowd of ladies attended the Christmas Ecumenical meeting which was held at the United Church on Tuesday evening, The meeting opened with the singing of, "While Shepherds Watched their Flocks," followed by a reading, "The Real Meaning of Christ- mas", by Karen Lager- werf. Blanche Morrice of St. John's by the Lake gave a Christmas reading called, "St. Luke in Bethlehem," and she closed with a Christmas Prayer by Robert Louis Stevenson. ." • Six ladies from Grand Bend United Church led by their president Eleanor Durie told about Christmas customs in other lands. The ladies assisting were Marlene Brenner, Mrs. Alex Hamilton, Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Mason, and Mrs. Morenz. Roberta Walker from the "Immaculate Heart of Mary Church" sang "No Room in the Inn" for one of her two solos. She was accompanied by Mrs. Campbell who also accompanied Lucille Vin- cent of "The Church of God" as she sang the solo "Room in My Heart". The highlight of the evening came when Alice Dixon of Parkhill told in her interesting manner of her "Impressions and Experiences," at the "Passion Play" which she had the good fortune to see in June: It is held every tenth year in Oberammergau which is a village in Bavaria 45 miles from Munich, Germany. The cast are all' amateurs and consist of people from the town. It was presented in gratitude by the townspeople for the end of a plague during which time many people died. It is spoken in German and books in English are sold to those who wish to follow the play, After telling us about her experiences she showed interesting slides of the town and many of the scenes which she had bought as nobody is allowed to take pictures during.the play. The collection for the evening will be sent to "Arc Industries", Douglas Woodburn with his guitar sang "Silver Bells" accompanied by Evelyn Curts at the organ. The lighting of the third Advent Candle was done by Pearl Bloomfield on Sunday to represent the ladies of the church. Rev. Moore spoke on the topic, "Seekers" and carols were sung. The Sunday School concert followed the church service and David Eagleson gave the words of welcome. Jean Isaac was announcer for the program and a dhristmas prayer was given by Tanya and Kerri-Lyn Neil. Scott Eagleson put his sixth birthday money in the birthday bank. Bibles were presented by Marion Larmer to Kareh Guenther and Elizabeth Walper for Sunday School work. Collection was taken up by Connie Glanville and Heather Hodgins. Piano solos were played by Tara Larmer and Heather Bullock. The Primary Class gave a number called, "The Little One's Gifts to the King" and Junior B sang the Hawian Christmas. Intermediate and Junior B told the Christmas Story with story and song. Martin Eagleson played the organ for the concert, AR SATURDAY, DEC. t it What does the sale include?
